When a stray cat kept visiting Erin Breean from Austin, Texas, she did everything she could to help him. After a few attempts, she was finally able to catch him and take him to the vets to see if he was chipped.

But when the pair arrived at the vet’s office, Erin was in for not one, but two big surprises. Kevin was actually a girl – and she was pregnant.

Erin told the story of Kevin with a collection of photos (77 to be precise) that she uploaded onto her Facebook. The post was initially just intended to be shared with friends and family, but as more people read her hilarious story, it soon became viral, with 35k likes and 59k shares. Erin captioned her pics:

‘Welp, for those of you who don’t know by now….this is Kevin. He was a stray that showed up on our patio at the end of March, wouldn’t let me pet him but seemed content to roll around and eat kibbles. Landon called him Kevin, and after a few days I was able to catch him and find a vet who would see him to see if he was chipped. Aaaand you can see how this story unfolded in the pics lol’

Around mid-March time, Erin noticed the stray creeping around her patio, and with the help of her boyfriend, she was able to catch her.

She told Bored Panda:

“Catching her was a 4-day ordeal of offering her treats and then food. During this process, my boyfriend Landon named him (her) Kevin. We would sit out on the patio with her for an hour or two every evening, she would roll around on her back for belly rubs but was really skittish and didn’t want us petting her. She would chase after us if we would get up and walk away, though.”

Eventually, Kevin became more comfortable in Erin’s house. Erin called a vet, unaware that she was about to receive two huge bombshells.

“She took a few laps around my office and laid down in the hallway like, ‘This is my house now’. I closed my office door, put her in our bathroom, and found a vet that would see us the next day to see if she was chipped. She wasn’t, and that’s when we found out that she was a girl and pregnant,” Erin explained.

With the whole world being in lockdown, Erin decided that the best thing to do would be to take Kevin in so that she could have her kittens in a place that she felt safe.

She had a dog, Murphy, who was used to cats as the couple had previously had an old kitty called Max, so Kevin was going to be in safe hands. Now it was a waiting game until the stray gave birth. When was it going to happen?

The vet said that the kittens would be here any day now. Kevin had come to the right home just in the nick of time!

The kittens are here! Kevin had four beautiful kittens, and like a proud mama she took to them straight away, with Erin saying:

“She has full conversations with her kittens, which is cute to hear from the other room.”

Having never looked after kittens before, Erin and her boyfriend were a little uneasy.

“She had her kittens 4 days after we got back from the vet, and we spent all our time reading articles for what to expect when your cat’s expecting and asking for advice from friends who had fostered kittens.” Erin told Bored Panda.

Then there was the question of what to do with the little cuties.

Erin got in touch with Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter, who agreed to foster the kittens, so that when they’re all old enough to go to their forever homes, they will be chipped, fixed, and vaccinated.

As for Kevin, we’ve got some great news!

“We’ve decided Kevin belongs here with us for good!” Erin said.

We’re sure Kevin is very happy about that – though we wonder if she’ll keep her name?
