Sometimes, animals surprise us with their heroism. It’s always incredible to get to witness their heroics and to see how they react when another member of their species is in danger.

The story of Champ and a filly is the perfect example of that.

A Stallion named Champ and his family were standing by the side of the Salt River in Arizona, relaxing and grazing on the grass.

As they enjoyed their meal, another group of wild horses appeared across the river. Champ and his herd wanted to greet the other horses, but to do that, they would have to cross the Salt River, which had a swift current.

Champ and his family started across the river. But unfortunately, about halfway across, a young filly got swept up in the current. She started panicking.

She was drowning, and she could do nothing to save herself.

Champ immediately jumped into action. He tried to grab the little horse by the side of her neck, but he was unable to get a good grip on her.

The little horse started getting swept downstream, and she panicked even more.

Champ chased after her, determined to save this young filly. He went to grab her neck again, and this time he was successful!

Champ gently held onto the foal’s neck with his teeth, and he carefully led her back to the riverbank. He didn’t let go of her until he was sure she was safe.

The scared foal ran to her mother, who nuzzled her, relieved she was okay.

Once he was sure the filly was okay, Champ headed back across the river to greet the other herd. After spending some time with the herd, Champ went back to his family.

The little foal’s mother rested her head against Champ’s neck, thanking him for saving her baby.

The video quickly went viral on YouTube, receiving over 3 million views. Many people praised Champ’s heroic actions:

“Some people think animals are heartless. This proves wild animals can save lives. Just like lifeguards, Police, firefighters, and doctors.”
