Military personnel know how hard it is to leave loved ones behind. And that goes for their pets too. It’s a given but it has to be said that they sacrifice so much of themselves for love of country. While they know their family will miss them and remember them, the same cannot be said for their pets.
A US Army soldier was nervous her dog would not remember her during her deployment. It’s not like the dog could tell her how she felt either.
Casandra Cabrera was on a ten-month deployment overseas with the US Army. She could communicate with her family and friends back home to let them know she missed them. But she could not do the same with her dog, Missy May, Casandra was missing her dog terribly.
Casandra explains that she, “left when she had just turned 1, and wasn’t sure if she would remember me after all that time.”
Nothing to worry about. Casandra’s mother, Robbi Cabrera, took Missy May to the airport with her to pick up Casandra from her deployment. Missy May doesn’t even know what she’s doing there. But like a good dog, Missy May stays calm.
The moment Missy May spots Casandra, she explodes and runs straight for her mom!
Robbi lets go of the leash and the dog just showers her mom with all the love her furry body can muster. She is jumping all over her mom in complete happiness. Missy May cannot get enough of Casandra! Missy May missed Casandra just as much as Casandra missed her.
Mom is home and Missy May is bursting with happiness!
Casandra tries to stand up after a few seconds but Missy May is not having that! Missy May stands on her hind legs to stay as close as possible to her mom. She even starts to lick her face and Casandra does not even mind. She has the biggest smile on her face and is just as excited to be reunited.
Missy May runs back to Robbi, almost as to tell her that Casandra is here, but runs back to Casandra quickly.
Missy May and Casandra’s reunion is filled with hugskisses! And for every time Missy May falls back onto all four legs, she just jumps right back up into her mom’s arms. It is the most adorable reunion!
Missy May got hugs and kisses first, even over Casandra’s mom, Robbi! Mom could care less as she gets the next hug from Casandra. Robbi knew it was a special moment for Missy May to be reunited with her human mom anyway.
Robbi and Missy May are proud of Casandra’s service. Welcome home Casandra.
It was a moment at the airport even strangers won’t forget. Ten months away and this is what she comes home to? Yes please! There’s so much time to make up but that won’t really be a problem for these two!
