We have nothing but the utmost respect for our troops who are risking their lives to serve. A military deployment will usually mean that these soldiers have to travel around dangerous areas as part of their jobs.

Many of these areas are so dangerous, that you wouldn’t ever consider building your home there.

But what happens when you have no choice? In every part of the world we come across stray animals, but in many third world countries, there are no resources in place to get these animals off the streets.

Heartbreakingly, this means that there are lots of stray animals who don’t get their happy ending. They are never given the life that they deserve.

Many troops who were on deployment began to notice this sad reality and wondered if there was anything that they could do about it. Surely there could be a way where they could get stray cats and dogs back to the U.S., out of harm’s way?

It was then that Puppy Rescue Mission was born.

The charity aims to get as many stray animals into the US and away from danger, using their Facebook page as a platform to appeal for donations.

If a soldier comes across a stray animal, then they will share the news with the charity, who will do their very best to change this fur baby’s life for the better.

There was one particular dog who needed all the help he could get.

Meet Rumi. This sweet girl was discovered in unsafe conditions in Syria and was practically crying out for help.

Puppy Rescue Mission said:

“Rumi wandered into our base emaciated, scared, and lost. Her sweet disposition immediately won the hearts of everyone here, and she is now a beloved part of our unit. She is patient, gentle, and downright sweet. We want to make sure she has the life she—and every dog—deserves; one without cold, hunger, or pain.”

Our heart breaks for her. The poor little thing would have been so scared. Thank goodness for the kind-hearted troops.

Amazingly, thanks to Puppy Rescue Mission and the donations from kind people, Rumi was able to be saved. This meant that she didn’t have to stay in the base all by herself once the soldiers left.

Of course, with the coronavirus pandemic, many people were worried that Rumi wouldn’t be able to get her happy ending after all. But luckily, she’s going to be just fine.

The charity said:

“We are so happy to announce she arrived safely at the facility in Iraq and will prepare for flight to America when she is ready and flights resume.”

Thank goodness for that! We are so gracious to all of the kind-hearted troops who are helping to keep animals like Rumi safe.
