Two sisters were at the right place at the right time when they found a scared puppy on the road.
Amanda and Nicole Lightle were on a road trip from Mississippi to Illinois after visiting their brother. \
As they ventured on a long way home, they noticed a dog wandering alone.
She was skinny when they found her.
They immediately knew what to do.
Amanda said they passed a puppy and asked, “Should we turn around?”
Nicole said yes without hesitation, and they returned to where the dog was.
“At first, I pulled up beside her, and at this point, she was in the tall grass on the side of the highway,” Amanda shared during an interview.
As soon as Nicole exited the car, the dog instantly fled.
Although scared, the dog was also curious.
The dog, later named Honey Bea, felt like she wanted to go to the woman.
But her fear was a bit stronger.
Amanda thought of treats to give her and went to grab pretzels.
That helped Honey loosen up, and she was picked up right away.
“She perked up to the sound of [the pretzels] and let me get closer, but she was scared to take it at first,” Lightle said.
When Honey was comfortable with her presence, she tried to grab her and was successful.
“Eventually she came up and took it, and I could pet her. She was shaking, but let me continue petting her,” Lightle explained.
“Luckily, we had a couple of beach towels in the car, so my sister came and gave me one to pick her up. She let me just scoop her up and carry her to the car! She was so sweet right off the bat,” she further added.
While traveling across the highway, the sisters decided to stop at a nearby park and did a quick bath for Honey to remove the dirt.
After that, they still have about nine and a half hours to drive home.
When they picked the puppy up, she was very skinny and dirty.
It was a sign that she was wandering all alone for quite some time on that road.
No collar, tag, or microchip to identify her or her owners.
Honey didn’t know she was already at her forever home.
After long hours of travel, the family arrived in Illinois.
They showered Honey again and removed all her fleas and ticks.
She felt she was finally safe with the people around her.
In another Tiktok video, which got more than 3 million views, the narration mentioned that she also visited the vet and that she did well.
The original Tiktok video was also viewed more than six hundred thousand times.
More than a thousand already commented and praised the sisters for saving the poor puppy.
One user said, “You were meant to be on that road at that very moment.”
