It has been 64 years since Sir Patrick Stewart had a dog. However, he has broken the cycle because he and his wife, Sunny Ozell are now fostering a pit bull named Ginger. Patrick and Sunny are fostering her from Wags and Walks Rescue.
Ginger is 2 years old and currently weighs 60lbs, but that doesn’t stop her from living that lap dog life!
“What we have here is a 60-pound lap dog. She got up here on her own,” said Sunny in her Instagram video featuring Ginger sitting on her lap.
On March 9, 2017, Stewart went on Conan O’Brien’s talk show and told him that Ginger had only arrived at his house a few hours ago.
“I’ve longed for this moment to come,” he said. “I had a Border Collie, Rover who had to be put down when I was 12 or 13.” He hasn’t had a dog since so he is very excited about being Ginger’s foster father.
According to Stewart, she came from a pit bull fighting ring where she was one of the breeding dogs.
“They’re [dog fighting rings] all over the country. Every state has one of these. It’s very cruel, the dogs get hurt and harmed. But now she’s with us,” he told Conan. “This is what we’re going to be doing as a sort of middle man.”
Stewart and his wife will only be fostering dogs and finding wonderful homes for them.
In the meantime, Stewart and Ozell have had a plethora of fun times with Ginger so far. Ginger has joined her new foster parents in the pool, catching z’s during nap time, going for walks outside, and of course, endless snuggles.
Ginger deserves it after what she has been through before Wags and Walks rescued her!
