One day when couple Zach and Libby came home, they found a large dog on their porch.

The couple lives in a very rural area and at first, weren’t sure whether he was a dog or a bear.

“I could see there was something on the porch. Out here, it could be a bear,” Zach told The Dodo. “And then I could tell it was a dog and he was wagging his tail. He wasn’t in good health.”

By this point, the dog was likely desperate, clinging only to the hope that the humans who lived in the home might be able to help him. Fortunately, he was right.

Zach and Libby discover Turbo

The couple lives on a 200-acre property in Arkansas. Their closest neighbors live far, far away.

They had no idea where the dog had come from and weren’t sure what to do.

Leaving the dog alone outside was not an option. He was clearly sick and would not be able to survive.

They decided to take him in until they are able to locate his owner.

Turbo was in rough shape

They decided to give Turbo a bath, something it seemed like he desperately needed.

They could see he was very dehydrated and was not able to move freely.

He also seemed to be disoriented but allowed the couple to bathe him without any resistance, something all dog owners know is a rare treat.

Turbo is eight years old

Zach and Libby decided to take Turbo to a vet to have his health evaluated. The vet told them that he is about eight years old, far younger than he appeared when they discovered him on their porch.

Turbo was prescribed numerous medications for his various ailments but eventually started to make improvements.

His movement improved and he even started running around and playing with the couple’s other dog.

Trying to find Turbo’s owner

The couple went looking for Turbo’s owner to try and reunite them.

They posted information about the dog all over Facebook but were unable to locate any family Turbo may have.

They asked their vet if they had ever treated Turbo before, but he hadn’t. Nobody knew where this dog came from.

Eventually, Zach and Libby decided that they would provide a forever home for Turbo.

Ava and Turbo’s relationship starts out rocky

Zach and Libby’s other dog, Ava, wasn’t initially enamored with her new sibling.

Over time, however, the two dogs became good pals.

“[Ava] tried to give him a lot of sass at the beginning. But then, they had a bit of a battle over some chew toys and they became friendly after that,” Zach said.

How did Turbo know where to go?

We’ll never know how Turbo found his way to this couple’s home but doing so likely saved his life.

Perhaps he just saw the only house in the area and figured there might be some friendly humans inside.

If there are any stray dogs reading this, please know there are plenty of friendly humans out there who want to help.

Also, it’s very impressive that you have learned to read.

Naming their new family member

They decided to name him Turbo after a young man named Rikki Maisonet, who was nicknamed Turbo at the Distribution Center where he worked.

Zach and Libby had just returned from an award ceremony recognizing Maisonet when they found Turbo on their porch, so the name just made sense.
