It is always disheartening to see animals abandoned.
We will take them in if we can provide for their needs. But it’s not always that easy, especially when the abandoned animal needs immediate medical attention. Thankfully, we have our local Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) and other shelters we can count on.
We could consider it a blessing in disguise when this dog was abandoned in Louisiana SPCA.
One of their staff saw this poor pittie named Cow (because, of course, look at those spots!) chained in their shelter’s pet one morning. NeNe Lewis told The Dodo that he seemed so scared and would give a low growl when he saw other people. He was also growing thin as if he hadn’t eaten for days.
The sad news was Cow wasn’t microchipped.
This made the search for the dog’s owner a pretty tall order for the staff of Louisiana SPCA. Days passed, and they still had not received any call from anyone looking for him.
As time went on, Cow grew fond of the SPCA staff.
It turned out that this scared boy was a sweet one. Everyone in the shelter loved him. He grew fond of everyone that he was always happy to see them and beg for some cuddles and belly rubs.
He also grew healthier than when they saw him chained on the fence.
Cow turned into a healthy and happy dog under their care, and they couldn’t be much more satisfied with his improvement. This gave them the drive to either look for his family or find him a new forever home because they knew that a family would surely love to have him as a pet.
After a couple of months, they found out that his old family has been looking for him.
A staff found some posts online saying that they were looking for Cow. It turned out that he was stolen from his family, and whoever stole him left him in the shelter. They immediately got in touch with the family, who were happy to drive down to the shelter to take Cow home.
They never saw Cow that happy before!
The moment he saw his mom by the glass window, he just kept on jumping for joy. According to NeNe, that was the first time they saw him wag his tail like that. Watch his reaction in the video below, and you will find yourself smiling the whole time.
Cow was wrapped in hugs and kisses in the arms of his family.
They were very thankful and excited to finally have him back in their home. He was away from them for more than a couple of months, but it never diminished the bond they had for each other.
This happiness resonated with other people.
Louisiana SPCA’s Facebook followers expressed how this reunion video of Cow and his family made them smile. Some even said they cried happy tears seeing Cow’s excitement. This video was also posted on their TikTok account, and it currently has 2.8 million views.
