Pets are supposed to live happy lives.

The reasons for getting a pet are different for every person. While some treat pets as family members, some people instead use them for the wrong reasons. The most common example is dogs.

In fact, in some households, dogs are only kept as aggressive guard dogs – always kept on a leash or inside a small cage 24/7. When they misbehave purpose anymore, they often receive a cruel punishment. If they can’t serve their purpose anymore, what happens could be much worse.

We’d never know how many animals are mistreated every day.

“The shocking number of animal cruelty cases reported every day is just the tip of the iceberg—most cases are never reported,” Humane Society wrote.

It just shows that there are dogs out there that are being secretly abused without people’s awareness.

One man happened to witness a horrific sight while walking his own dogs

This sweet girl is Tatiana. She’s been at Mackenzie’s for a long time.

Tati has a very heart breaking history (was tied…

It happened in 2011 when Ernie Moss decided to take his dogs out on a walk one day.

He thought that their walk would go smoothly as planned, but he never expected such a drastic twist as they went along the way.

Ernie noticed something unusual shaking at a nearby ditch and became curious about what it is. Upon checking, he was astonished to find a half-dead Pit Bull struggling for its own life.

The gruesome image was haunting yet heartbreaking.

The Pit Bull’s mouth was bound with electrical tape, while its legs were tied together. Ernie also noticed wounds and several injuries that could be linked to a beating. Ernie then acted fast, as he tried to free the pup by himself while he desperately asked his wife to call for help.

Help arrived fast, relieving the poor dog from a lot of pain.

Capital Area Humane Society (CAHS) quickly rushed to the scene upon receiving their call for help. When they arrived, Ernie only managed to barely free the poor Pittie from its restraints.

Furthermore, it seems like Pittie’s condition was getting worse.

Luckily, the rescue team was just on time to help him. If they were a second later, it might just be too late.

The rescued Pit Bull held on to life.

The injured dog was then taken to be treated at CAHS’s shelter.

They later gave her the name Tatiana, and carefully maintained and supervise her while recovering from her many injuries. However, even after a year and a half, Tatiana’s conditions are getting more severe.

“With only a glance, it became obvious that she was suffering from extensive injuries to the head,” CAHS explained. “She was immediately transferred to a local veterinary office for care and diagnostic testing.”

CAHS left Tatiana in Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary’s care.

The sanctuary’s medical team welcomed Tatiana with open arms and did their best to help her. At the same time, Tatiana held on desperately for her own life which paved the way to success.

The abuser was punished accordingly to his crimes.

The abuser was found, and he faced the proper punishment for his crimes. He was fined $10,000 although he was only confined in jail for 43 days rather than the ordered 93 days.

Some are obviously unsatisfied by the result, but all that matters is Tatiana is now in safe hands.

Spending her remaining days in her forever home.

Tatiana lived in the shelter for 10 years until she finally found a family that was willing to take care of her.

Despite her painful past, she managed to live to see a better life with the help of everyone involved.
