When we need something in life, our family and friends are usually the ones who will step in to make sure we have what we need to be happy and healthy. But when 12-year-old Jaxon’s was despondent over his favorite toy being discontinued, it was a complete stranger who was able to solve his puppy problem.

Jaxon loves to play with his favorite toy, a Top Paw chew toy named “Greenie.”

But Jaxon ONLY likes that toy. It’s the only toy the senior dog will play with and nothing else will do. Jaxon’s Greenie would get pretty beat up from all the use so it needed to be replaced about twice a year.

“He was adopted from our local shelter on December 8, 2014, and I put one of these toys in his stocking the first year we had him (our other dog got the red version — which was a dragon),” his owner Kelli Brown of Kentucky told The Dodo. “And this has just always been the only toy he’s ever played with!”

So the Brown household went into crisis mode when the toy was discontinued.

Brown looked everywhere to try and find a new one to no avail. Brown finally took to Twitter to see if she could find someone who could help her locate a Greenie.

“@PetSmart PLZ HELP! This Top Paw toy has been discontinued but it’s the only toy 12 y/o Jaxon will play with,” she tweeted. “Got any laying around? We’ll buy them all up if you’ll let us! Our internet search brought us no luck. Very sad boy here!!”

Others chimed in with some alternatives to Greenie with toys that looked simliar, but that wouldn’t do for Jaxon.

We’ve tried other green toys over the years, he won’t have anything to do with them,” Brown wrote. “And there was a red & yellow version of his fave toy (a dragon!) same size, same fabric, just a different color and no dice. What a weirdo, lol.”

Thankfully a Texas Pet Goods employee, Kendyl Kercho, stepped in to save the day.

“I work at petsmart and i can check our clearance to see if we have any!” she tweeted to Brown.

She posted a request in an employee Facebook group to see if anyone could spot a Greenie.

She also searched her store from head to toe. She didn’t find one at first, but finally tracked one down that was located in a less obvious spot.

“I actually squeaked audibly when I found the clearance toy bin in the back where they were tucked away,” Kercho said. “I immediately told my manager, ‘These are the toys I’ve been looking for for my Chihuahua friend in Kentucky!’”

And Jaxon was overjoyed to say the least.

“Remember posting Baby J’s plea for a retired PetSmart toy (Greenie) awhile back? Happy to say the power of the internet came through BIG TIME. He is so happy right now… thank you all!!! Happiest boy in the world!” Brown said.

Even PetSmart was happy to see that Jaxon was reunited with his Greenie.

“Woke up to hear associate came to the rescue when she heard that Baby J’s favorite toy (aka Greenie) was discontinued! Thanks for looking out for a good boy, Ken!”

Good job internet!
