Sometimes a hug is all you need. For humans, this is often the case. It is less about the physical part of the hug and more about the knowledge that someone is there and cares about you. However, the funny part is that this isn’t special to humans! Lot’s of other animals love the physical reassurance of a hug.
Hope for Paws got a tip-off of a dog that was in trouble.
Hope for Paws is a rescue organization that devotes time and money to helping animals that need it the most. They have saved thousands of animals and are a wonderful charity. Part of what they do is responding to calls of people tipping them off.
They recently received a call about a scared and sad dog in their area.
Once they got the tip, the team was off to check on the dog that needed help. Walking up to the location, they almost missed the timid dog. Hiding behind a gate, the little pup was just sitting, hoping nobody noticed her. Once they saw her, they got to work on a plan.
The dog was so afraid that it wouldn’t even look at the rescuers as they came up.
Sitting in dirty sand, it was afraid of the rescuers, showing that she didn’t trust humans all that much. The pup probably had some bad memories and needed to learn to trust again. The first step, though, was making sure that she couldn’t escape and hurt herself.
Shaking and breathing heavily, the dog looked really bad.
The dog was in terrible condition and ran away from the initial attempt from the rescuer to catch her. Her fur was in disarray and she looked dirty. Wanting to get a bit closer to her, the rescuer came around and started to slowly crawl toward her, hoping to appear non-threatening.
The man was very careful and loving toward the little creature.
Despite nonstop shaking, they were finally able to get a leash on her. After that, the rescuer carefully reached out and touched the timid dog. Soon, he was able to pick her up and give her a hug and pet. Slowly, the timid dog, McKenzie, learned to trust the man.
Sitting in the passenger seat, she was finally in a warm place for the first time in forever.
Once they got to the vet, it was time for a makeover! Getting her a bath was the first step in the process. She was still shaking a bit (vets can be scary) but she was learning to trust. After the bath, she was cleaned and cared for by her rescuer friend. A little turkey helped her know that she was loved!
The next clip is of the previously timid pup being absolutely full of joy and life.
Looking like a completely different creature, the little white pup played, jumped, and was happier than she had ever been before! She even made some new friends at the foster home and was so excited to be alive. The drastic change shows just how much a little love can do.
