Animal rescues are a lot of work and there are plenty of things to consider when initiating a rescue, especially when the potential target is a mother-dependent, young litter.
The latter was true when a bunch of rescuers scouted the area where a puppy was found.
A month ago, a rescue team from Northeast Animal Rescue, a non-government organization based in China, got a call from a concerned person telling them about a puppy that they found near a country road. They rushed onto the scene and found a small black puppy lying on the dried grass. When the puppy noticed the people’s presence, it ran out of their sight toward the bushes.
The rescue team immediately followed the small puppy, and to their surprise, they saw two more puppies scattered in the area. The rescuers walked around the grassy area but the puppies were not afraid of their presence. In fact, they just stayed and ran around their respective spots as the rescuers passed by them.
The NAR team brought out water and dog food to feed the puppies, and the puppies’ response to it was heartbreaking.
The rescuers from NAR thought that they might need some food and water and they were indeed right. When one rescuer grabbed a bowl and a bottle of water, one puppy was quick to notice it and did not hesitate to approach the human.
The poor puppy gulped the water quickly, and after some time, the other puppies followed. NAR provided the puppies with some more water and food, and the scene is purely heartbreaking as it looked like the puppies just tasted food for the first time. The puppies took their sweet time to satisfy their hunger and quench their thirst with NAR’s kind provisions.
It would seem that there is no mother taking care of this litter.
Since the rescuers could not just grab the puppies and take them back home, they spent a long time waiting and searching to see whether they had a mother taking care of them. However, as time passed, no mother dog came back to the area for them. The team assumed that something bad might have happened to their mother as these puppies were left starving.
The rescue team took the puppies back home and now they have a nice comfy bed to sleep in.
They realized that there was no hope of finding their mom so they decided to take them away from the environment they were in. They brought the dogs back to their headquarters and bathed them well. Will, one of NAR’s members, named them Panther, Bear, and Myna.
At the end of the video, you could see them comfortably huddling on a single doggy bed. Surely, these poor puppies do not have to worry about food and water anymore. The only thing that NAR is hoping is to give them to a home where they will be given a sufficient amount of love and attention.
There is another possibility for why the puppies ended up without a mother.
Since the video was uploaded online, some netizens were worried that there might be more puppies scattered around. However, some people pointed out the possibility that an irresponsible owner dropped the litter in that area. If that were the case, then their story is more than heartbreaking.
It is advisable to leave puppies that you cannot take care of at a shelter rather than dumping them in the wild. NAR also encourages people to help these orphaned animals by adopting them.
