We, unfortunately, live in a world where some will exploit or even hurt animals for their own profit.
Thankfully, there are also people out there who will selflessly care for animals that have been mistreated.
Animals like tigers and bears are often kept in terrible conditions and made to live in zoos or take pictures with tourists in places like Russia.
According to Bored Panda, a lion cub named Simba was in a similar situation.
The poor cub was taken away from his mother when he was just a few months old.
After that, he was forced to serve as a tourist attraction. But that’s not the worst of it.
These people not only separated a cub from his mother and forced him into show biz but they broke his leg.
Then they wounded his spine.
They did this so that he wouldn’t be able to run away or squirm around when a tourist took a picture with him.
But all was not lost for little Simba.
Thankfully he was saved by a rescue organization.
The immediately brought him to a vet as Simba was in extremely poor condition.
Poor Simba had been tied up in a barn where he was forced to take pictures with tourists.
He was also tortured and beaten.
Simba was found with injuries on his legs, spines, and just about everywhere else on his body. He was on the brink of death when he was found.
The rescuers saved him just in time.
Simba was in need of surgery and thankfully that surgery ended up being successful.
“The brave lion cub Simba will have a long rehabilitation in our shelter of wild animals and birds of the Save Me Foundation for Animal Welfare,” the rescue wrote on their Facebook page.
To recover, he was fed a special diet and given the medicine he needed.
Eventually, Simba began to heal and trust humans again.
Simba’s story ended up going viral and well wishes and toys started flooding in.
According to Bored Panda, Karen Dallakyan, a Russian veterinarian, is credited with saving Simba’s life.
He reportedly helps lots of animals like Simba get out of horrible situations where they are abused and mistreated.
Dallakyan does everything he can to make sure animals are not exploited for personal gain, Bored Panda says.
Because of him, Simba just turned 1-years-old.
“The joy of the baby was no limit,” wrote Olga Lazareva who appears to be some sort of model or influencer. “And this is already a very different, happy and confident cub who lives in love and care.”

However, it seems that Simba is still being kept in a small enclosed cage area.
And people still use him to take pictures with.
It seems, according to Google translations, that they are hoping to get Simba a larger space to roam and that he will soon get a new home.
