Have you ever met an animal that seems to think they’re human? Amazingly, this happens all the time. In some instances, they have strange habits or facial features that make them look more like a person than an animal.

But what about an animal that acts a lot like another type of animal? That too isn’t uncommon. Some people say their fluffy cats sometimes act like dogs. But it’s even funnier when you see a dog acting like a cat.

Meet Mako the dog

Bethany Castiller knew Mako was perfect for her family as soon as she met him. She said, “We joke that we didn’t really pick him, he picked us. When we went to the rescue shelter he had his back against the cage so we started petting him and he looked over his shoulder and gave direct eye contact and we just fell in love with the little guy.”

A special pup

The family didn’t just want any dog…they wanted one that would get along well with their two cats, Gizmo and Pecan. Mako seemed sweet so they weren’t too concerned. But they didn’t realize what would happen after bringing him home.

Just like a cat

Turns out, Mako gets along great with the kitties, someone expected since he’s such a friendly dog. Instead, the family thinks he gets along with them so well because he thinks he’s a cat, too.

Unusual habits

Mako does a lot of cat-like things. For starters, he doesn’t bark. But he also loves sitting on the counter, and he’s always craving cat treats.

A super cute cat-dog

Bethany said, “We went online and found a dog toy that looks like a cat one so we go to the backyard and he chases and jumps after it like the cats. He also likes to lay on the tables with my cats and look out the window at the birds with them. When he sees one of my cats lay on their backs for a tummy rub he comes over and does the same thing!”

Surprising shots

If you follow Mako’s Instagram, you can see some pretty surprising pictures of this adorable dog. For example, as his owner explained, he’s on the counter a lot. One time, he was even on top of the refrigerator.

Sibling love

This sweet pup loves hanging out with the cats. Whenever he sees them on the counters, he has to join them. It’s so cute to see that all the pets have a loving relationship.

Somewhat needy

He loves to spend time with his entire family, including the cats. Bethany stated, “Whenever Mako sees the boys on the counters or cabinets, he hops up to join them. He really just wants to be around the cats all the time. If he is not in the room with one of us humans, he’s with the cats.”

Figuring it out

At first, the family wondered why Mako acts like a cat. But then, they realized something. He’d probably lived with cats in the past and picked up some of their habits.

What a loving household

Whether you’re a cat or dog person, you have to admit this house sounds like a lot of fun. There are so many animals walking around. And most importantly, they all seem to love each other a lot.
