Not all pet owners get to choose their own pets, some stray animals will choose to adopt their owner of choice. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) notes that their are more than ten million stray cats in the United States. That is a harrowing number for just one country.
So many cats do not have a home, so one cat decided to pick her own home.
A homeowner found a cat meowing consistently at his front door one night. It was during a cold winter night and they did not have the heart to leave the cat outside. The owner did not own any pets and decided to let the cat inside. The owner noted that the cat was friendly from the very beginning and even let the owner stroke her fur.
Since the cat was friendly, he decided that the cat would be a perfect fit for a pet. He might have thought he was adopting a stray cat, but really, the cat chose him. One of the first notable markings of the cat was its matted fur in certain places.
This was an outside cat through and through and needed some major TLC, but he did not realize how much.
As the days passed the owner started to notice something strange about the cat.
He explains that “…the cat was gaining weight and she was spending more time sleeping.”
That is when the owner came to the realization why the cat wanted inside, and out of the winter cold, so badly, she was pregnant.
A mother’s instinct and will is beyond measure, even in cats, and she needed a safe place to bring her kittens into the world. She must have instinctually known the owner of this particular house would be a great protecter and she was right. The owner let her in and made her one of the family.
This mama cat soon gave birth to three adorable kittens.
The video lets the viewers know that the “…kittens came into the world healthy and they grew strong under the care of a kind owner, thanks to their caring and selfless mom.”
The kittens were able to grow strong and healthy by the protection of the house and mother. They would not have grown the same if they were forced to be born out in the cold outside. The kittens were even adopted into loving families of their own after weeks with their mother.
This was a hard decision to make by the owner but knew it would be to the benefit for each kitten to live in a new and loving home.
The owner keeps reminding himself that the kittens are with great new families, just like when the mama cat came into his home. One stray mama cat changed the course of her and her kittens life for the better all by meowing at a stranger’s door.
The video quickly went viral and the story has touched many viewers hearts. The determination and love of a mother transcends all.
