He is an only puppy with a heart of gold and his life is now rich and full thanks to the love and support of his new parents – but Owen’s life hasn’t always been so easy.

Owen was discovered inside a broken down refrigerator box with his other siblings. When he was rescued by South Plains SPCA he and his siblings were put into separate foster homes until they could be adopted out.

Clarissa Quintana and her boyfriend Ivan first met Owen a few weeks after he had been rescued and decided that he would now have a new forever home with them.

To mark the special occasion, they wanted to arrange a special photo shoot and announce his arrival into their family.

This is certainly not the first time we’ve seen a beautiful photoshoot to mark such an occasion – but this shoot was about more than just that.

“Not all dogs have his background,” said Clarissa. “I didn’t want to buy balloons, or anything like that. I wanted to represent his story.”

Clarissa had hopes that this shoot would encourage those who saw it to consider adopting a rescue dog of their own.

“I thought, ‘If I can get people excited about adopting, that would be really neat,'” she said. “It’s better to adopt than to go shop. It’s just really nice knowing that you’re saving a life.”

Owen has made their lives infinitely more joyous and purposeful.

“Owen has been such a good dog. It’s ridiculous how great he is — and I’m not just saying that because I’m biased,” Clarissa said. “We’re just so happy.”

Even the photographer was left with only lovely things to say about the special pup and the positive effect he has had on his new family.

“He has a really great personality, and he was very obedient during the shoot,” said Shelby. “I feel like Owen just makes their family complete.”

We are happy to report that Owen wasn’t the only one of his siblings to receive a happy ending, in fact, ALL of Owen’s brothers and sisters have now been adopted thanks to the wonderful efforts of the South Plains SPCA.
