If you are a pet owner, you might understand the frustration of getting your pet to the vet. Once they hear that word, they’ll often do their best to avoid you at all costs.

Pets often have a wide variety of reactions once they hear you talking about taking them to the vet. They might hide under your bed, run as fast as they can, or lie on the floor like jelly so that it’ll be hard to carry them. But this one particular dog tried to convince her owner that she was sleeping.

The dog may have overheard her fur-parents talking about the vet.

It might have been something that Lulu, the Shiba Inu, overheard from her parents, and so she scooted off and hid somewhere. Her fur-parents were planning to get her spayed at the veterinary clinic, but when they tried to call her, Lulu was nowhere to be seen.

It was time for Lulu to go to the vet. However, as her fur-parent searched for her, they found her lying on the bed with the blanket covering her lower body. Her owner tried to wake her up but Lulu never responded. Instead, she desperately tried to close her eyes and hoped that her owner would change her mind.

Her owner kept calling Lulu’s name and greeting her with a good morning. But Lulu carried on with her act and ignored her. Lulu’s owner tried to uncover the dog and rub her belly, but even her tail did not wag. Lulu was so good at her acting skills that you could be convinced that she’s sleeping.

Her mom tried everything but never got a single response. Lulu might have felt relieved that her plan worked out, but she failed to realize that her mom still had a final trick up her sleeves. Her owner snuck from behind, shook a bag of treats, and it worked like a charm! Lulu excitedly sat up with her ears fully perked up and smelled the bag of treats her owner was holding.

The clip was uploaded on YouTube six years ago and racked up more than 11 million views. Lulu had done a great job of trying to evade a visit to the vet, but she could not resist the sound of the rattling goodies. Hopefully, she was rewarded with a handful of treats after she visited the vet.

Here are some tips for how to get your dogs to love their visit to the vet.

Like Lulu, a lot of pets dread a visit to their clinics. However, there are five ways to make their vet anxiety turn into a calm and fun one. As per The Spruce Pets, the first one is to choose the right vet, one who could understand your dog’s emotions very well. Second is to get them used to other people handling them. Third is to take them for a fun walk to their usual vet to socialize with people.

Then, reward them for an appropriate amount of treats. Lastly, maintaining your emotions in a calm state to avoid inciting fear and anxiety to your pets. If you do all these, in no time, your dogs could get used to their visits to the vet.
