Little pups help their delivery driver dad on his route when their doggy daycare closes
They're the best little workers!

Although many folks are staying at home during the pandemic, essential workers like delivery drivers are out there 7 days a week dropping off our food, groceries, and all the stuff we’ve been ordering online.

Even though FedEx drivers like Daniel Nava normally work alone, lately he’s been forced to defy the “six feet” rule and take a couple of newbies with him on his regular delivery route.

Before COVID-19 forced most businesses to close, Daniel Nava would drop off his puppies, Chorizo and Cocoa, at his local doggy daycare center before heading to work.

Since doggy daycare isn’t considered essential, Daniel, who drives a FedEx truck, came up with a new plan to make sure his fur babies were taken care of.

And what better way to ensure his doggos were safe than to watch over them himself!

Instead of leaving them at home alone to get into all sorts of trouble, Chorizo and Cocoa get to tag along with dad in his truck.

This setup is absolutely perfect – the pups deliver all the smiles while he delivers all the packages!

At first, the decision to bring his dogs with him to work made Daniel a bit nervous. Even though he’s taken Chorizo and Cocoa on one of his delivery routes in the past, it wasn’t a regular thing like it is now.

He told The Dodo that he did get permission from his supervisor to make every day a “bring your fur babies to work” day:

“The decision to bring them with me on deliveries was not easy but my supervisor is very understanding. Also I had brought them with me before with no safety issues – I have them on a harness that is anchored down to my seat while we drive.”

Daniel’s worries about the safety of his pups disappeared as soon as he saw what a blast they were having!

In fact, Cocoa and Chorizo took their roles as the local FedEx delivery mascots very seriously.

While they may be a little rambunctious at home, when they’re on the job, these dogs are well-behaved and act like total professionals!

But, there was still one thing missing from this perfect working relationship. Now that they were unofficial FedEx employees, Chorizo and Cocoa needed some proper work outfits!

Since there weren’t any uniforms made in hot dog sizes, Daniel made them himself.

“I ended up making their outfits out of some old work shirts, and I got them some doggy sunglasses on Amazon.”

After a long hard day delivering smiles, these doggos enjoy relaxing with a cold one as soon as they get home.

And they totally deserve it. Wagging their tails all day is hard work!

Chorizo and Cocoa will continue to work right alongside their dad so long as doggy daycare is closed.

And who knows, maybe their temp job will turn into something more permanent!
