When you’re still young, there is undoubtedly no situation scarier than losing your mother.
Babies just don’t have enough life experience to survive without an adult, and your parents are the ones who you depend on to get you through those early stages of life.
So when police officers spotted some lost ducklings wandering around without their mama, they were going to do whatever it takes to reunite the poor babies.
The first officer to encounter the ducklings was Sergeant Engelhart, who was patrolling a sidewalk in Memorial Park on April 11, 2020.
The poor things were evidently lost and were searching for a motherly figure to help them out.
The ducklings spotted Englehart and decided that he would do, and luckily the Sergeant was more than willing to help them.
Adorably, all of the babies lined up in an orderly line and followed Englehart obediently as he took them on their search mission to find their mama. It’s almost as if they knew that he was a police officer and they have to be on their best behavior!
A big thank you to @houstonpolice Sgt. Engelhart who not only helped me after I locked my keys in the car this morning, but also helped these little chicks find their way back to mom β all while making sure that folks know all @HoustonTX parks are closed due to #COVID19. pic.twitter.com/x3TX29xzwJ

The video was posted by NBC News reporter Priscilla Thompson, who also thanked the Sergeant for helping her out when she locked her keys in her car.
It’s unclear whether Engelhart ever reunited the little chicks with their mother because another video then emerged of a different officer coaxing the chicks to safety.
How quackers!
This time, it’s Houston Police Asst. Chief Larry Satterwhite who takes on the responsibility of the seven little ducklings.
The chicks once again formed a line as they set off on their mission.
The video was posted by Houston Police onto Instagram and has since gone viral with over 20,000 views.
Many people praised the officer’s good deed in the comments section.
One person wrote, “Wow !! Good to see the command staff at work !! Good job !” Whilst another said, “Love this!! What a grand escort to their mama!!”
It is clear that Larry cares a great deal about getting the ducklings safely back to their mama. We can see how he keeps on glancing back to check that the ducklings are still following him.
How sweet!
We hope that these ducklings were eventually reunited with their mom so that these police officers’ efforts weren’t in vain.
