It’s absolutely terrible for dogs to be abandoned, but the owner of the adorable pup “Fatty McFat” felt like she had no other choice. The woman, from Harwinton, Connecticut, recently became ill and homeless. She realized that she couldn’t take care of her loving dog anymore because of her living situation.
Fatty’s owner then asked everyone for help to see if her pup could stay somewhere, but nobody was willing to help them. She even contacted 50 different animal rescue organizations, but they wouldn’t aid her because Fatty had a history of biting.
Desperate, the woman then decided to leave her pup behind in what must’ve been a heartbreakingly difficult moment.
Fatty was wrapped up in his favorite blanket and was given plenty of food and water in a cage, which she dropped off outside of a veterinary’s office. One of the vets was surprised to see the cage but they were all astonished when they read the note Fatty’s owner left behind.
“My name is Fatty McFat. I am aggressive only because I’m scared. My owner loves me very much, I am their life! My human went homeless & found out they have a disease & cannot care for me. Please don’t judge them. They tried to rehome me on many documented attempts, no one cared! Attempted the vet, they did not care! Call police & dog warden, did not care! I know my human loves because they were & are the only one who gave every attempt to save me, love me, and pamper me.
It is not fair for me to live in a car for 2 months & my human cries everyday that they are sorry & love me. I am very, very overly protective of my human & will bite anyone who comes near them or I feel is a threat. My human went homeless due to my biting. All my human wants is for me to have a chance, be treated w/ care, dignity & love no matter the outcome. My human is heartbroken & very sad it has come to this. No one would help. –Fat McFat”
It’s terribly sad that it had to come this far, but the veterinarians were determined to help Fatty. They gave him a medical check-up and the pit bull was quickly transferred to the no-kill shelter The Simon Foundation.
The rescuers at animal rescue foundation then tracked down the owner of Fatty McFat and promised her that they would gladly take care of her adorable pit bull until she was able to take him in again or prepare to put him up for adoption in case she couldn’t.
“This is one of those times where we have the room and we can help,” director Lisa Agresti mentioned.
Luckily, the story of Fatty McFat and his owner ends on a good note.
InspireMore reports that Channel 3 was able to track down the owner as well and speak with her. The woman mentioned that she recently got a full-time job once again and will do everything she can to take Fatty back in when her personal situation improves.
Until then, the volunteers and crew of The Simon Foundation will gladly take care of the adorable pit bull and give him all the love and attention he deserves.
