The holidays are always a fun time for everyone, including your furry family members. Your pets get to enjoy tons of ear scratches from guests and lots of yummy table scraps. What’s not to love? However, one challenge many pet owners have is their decorations. Dogs and cats can easily mistake your ornament-filled tree for a brand new toy.

This can be a bit frustrating for owners, but as the owners in these photos show, there are plenty of creative ways to pet-proof your trees. If you need some inspiration this holiday season, here are 11 stellar examples of pet-proofing.

1. Barrier Tree

One solution to pet-proofing your tree is using a good ol’ fashioned barrier. They’ll never figure out how to get in here.

2. Ceiling Tree

Ceilings also count as wall space, by the way. Hanging up a tree is a good way to get creative while preventing your furry friends from attacking the tree.

3. Wall Tree

You can also attach a tree to the wall. See? Fluffy doesn’t even notice it’s there.

5. Charlie Brown Tree

If all else fails, just make your tree as minimalist as possible! As this cat’s grumpy face shows, it will certainly work as a deterrent.

6. Half Decorated

If your pet’s more bothered by the tree than the decorations, this approach is also an option. Then, they can play with the bottom half while you can enjoy the beautifully decorated top half.
