Now, the details are a bit sketchy on how this majestic bird, a great horned owl, found himself in this dire predicament.

What is known, though, is that an observant State Game Warden stumbled upon the scene and knew immediately that action was required.

The owl was far from okay—he was seriously injured, in a condition that would have made any animal lover’s heart sink.

The owl was suffering from severe dehydration, but that wasn’t all.

He also had serious eye injuries that appeared to be caused by a BB gun.

Yes, you read that right.

Someone had actually fired at this defenseless creature.

Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the warden made a crucial phone call to Raven Ridge Wildlife Center in Washington Boro, Pennsylvania.

Once they got their hands on the owl, the extent of his condition became startlingly clear.

“This Owl was stuck in a manure pit for at least two days, and upon arrival it was evident that he was severely dehydrated, weak, eye trauma, and layers of dried manure,” the rescue team stated on their Facebook page.

“We were able to bathe the owl very carefully, start fluids and eye treatment.”

As the team began treating him, Tracie Young, an insightful employee at Raven Ridge, made a shocking discovery.

The cause of the owl’s suffering wasn’t just external—Tracie found that the BB pellet that had inflicted all this harm was still lodged inside the owl’s eye socket.

This grim revelation underscored the urgency of the situation.

The bird was initially dubbed “Stinky” due to the unpleasant circumstances of his rescue.

But as the owl’s incredible journey of recovery and resilience started to unfold, everyone agreed that a more heroic name was in order.

“Stinky” just wouldn’t do justice to this valiant creature.

And so, they decided on “Lucky,” which seemed to capture the essence of his miraculous survival perfectly.
