Quick-thinking officers to the rescue.

It’s hard to say how he got there but he is very lucky to be alive. The road where he was found is an Interstate with heavy traffic. The officers found him crouching down near a storm drain on the side of the road. As they approached the kitten it looked extremely scared and was scurrying back and forth to avoid capture. The officers did an excellent job easing closer to him so that he wouldn’t run.

“I know…. it’s ok.”

You can hear the Animal Control officer speak to the kitten while walking with it. “I know…I’m scared.. it’s ok.” The kitten looks scared but seems to realize that these people aren’t his enemies. After holding him and walking with the scared kitten, the Animal Control officer is able to rub his head and neck as it continues to calm down. The kitten looks up at the officer with a look that seems to say, “thank you.”

This little kitten is one lucky feline.

Lucky was even chosen as a name suggestion along with others proposed by followers on FB, IG, and Twitter. The department asked the public to help name the kitten. They posed the important question on Facebook, “What do you think we should name him?” The post went on to say, “The five top contenders for names were Freeway, Lucky, Highway, Alexander (The Grate), and Hitch.
