Kitty Shaub is a 30-year-old photographer from Benton Harbor Michigan who specializes in newborn photography. Last year, Shaub and her husband decided to adopt a 8-week-old kitten for their 5-year-old daughter Amelie. The couple’s decision was unexpected, but their friend’s cat had recently given birth to a litter, and they figured they’d give one of the kittens a home. They named the baby girl Luna.

“She [Amelie] and Luna are inseparable,” Shaub told The Dodo. “They sleep together, play together, and eat together.”

“When Amelia plays in her doll house, the kitten is in there too” Shaub revealed. “She even asked if they could take a bath together last night!”

One day, while Shaub was preparing for a client’s newborn photo shoot, she noticed Luna snoozing on the living room couch. That’s when Shaub got a brilliant idea.

She tells The Dodo, “Luna sleeps about 20 hours a day, and since I frequently take newborn photos, we thought it would be cute to take a few photos of her, and that our friends would enjoy it.”

Swaddling the kitten with colored fabrics and dressing her in tiny headbands, Shaub created what can definitely be considered the cutest photo shoot ever.

“The bowl I posed her in is literally a salad bowl from my kitchen.”

“She didn’t even wake up. We had to try to wake her up to get her to open her eyes, but she was very comfortable in there.”

“She [Luna] sleeps on our laps all the time and is very cuddly, so I don’t think she minded one bit. She’d let you do pretty much anything if you petted her while you do it!”

When Shaub uploaded the images to Facebook, cat lovers everywhere went wild. Within a few short weeks, the photos had been shared over 67,000 times!

“We had no idea it would blow up like this,” Shaub said. “She didn’t even know what was going on!”

People were in love with Luna’s photos, and Shaub decided to give back. She created a 2017 calendar featuring the photos and sold them for $20 each. All proceeds from the sales were then donated to Save-A-Stray shelter in St. Joseph, Michigan.
