While nature can be beautiful and inspiring, it can also be scary! We have all experienced the fear that comes with a spider that has disappeared from sight, convincing us we are about to be bitten! These little encounters are good reminders that humans are still just creatures living within the cycle of the world and we can never fully escape the wild.
This video might cause you to bring your dog inside!
Of all the wild creatures that we can encounter, bears and big cats are usually the most imposing. They are the apex predators in whatever environment they live in, striking fear into whatever prey lives in the area. While humans are usually sheltered from these interactions, when they do happen, they are awe-inspiring.
Captured on video, a group of mountain lions decided to visit a human backyard.
Waking up one morning, Andy Davis filmed a group of mountain lions taking a water break in his Colorado backyard. The lions are INCREDIBLY close to the window and would be quite the wakeup call.
While we don’t have all the details, they seem to have come for the water.
Making a habit of predicting animals isn’t a fruitful task. For this instance, however, it looks like the lions found a place to rest and get some water. Like humans, the porch seems to be the place to hang out with friends, have a drink, and relax!
The video was taken at 6 a.m. and is a good reminder for those living in “wild” places.
Andy could have been on his way to take his dogs out this morning! If you live in a place like Colorado, you always have to be careful when letting your pets roam in the backyard. Ann Sparks, the poster of the video, even said this:
HOLY CATS! This was taken at 6am this morning from my next door neighbors porch. We share a driveway and are about a 30 second walk from each other. When the lions go under the trailer they are headed into my yard. Good LORD!!! My little Pete is now on a leash 24/7!
Mountain lions are beautiful big cats
It is the second-heaviest cat in the New World after the jaguar. Secretive and largely solitary by nature, the cougar is properly considered both nocturnal and crepuscular, although daytime sightings do occur
Known also as pumas, mountain lions are the second largest cat in the Americas (only behind the jaguar)! The animals are mostly nocturnal but can be seen in the daytime. For humans, the best time to see them is early morning and dusk (as this video shows)! There are very few human-cougar encounters that turn deadly. Still, it would still cause the average human to be a bit afraid seeing this in their backyard.
After visiting this backyard, they moved on to their neighbor’s house.
Giving an incredible show, the group of cats moved on to scare the other neighbors in the area. It isn’t every day that you get to see something as incredible as that! Thankfully, nobody was hurt and the cats got the rest and water that they needed to continue on their journey.
