Regardless of life’s many curveballs, moms will always, always be there for their children. Even when they’re all grown up.
Unfortunately for most dogs, once a mom gives birth, she only gets to spend a few months with her pups before they’re sold or given away to new homes.
Many of us have wondered what would happen if a mother dog was reunited with her pups.
Meet Bess. She was a stray found alongside the road. Tennessee couple Tracy and John Stuart took her in and volunteered to love and support Bess as best they could.
So when the Stuarts learned that Bess was pregnant, they were surprised.
The now loved stray soon had 12 puppies inside of her which meant that Tracy and John had to rush the expecting mother to the emergency room for a safe delivery.
It was a good thing they did. One of the puppies, called Burrdie, was keeping the others from coming out by blocking the birth canal.
Burrdie herself needed special attention, so she got a pink ribbon signifying she needed the most care.
There was also the challenge of having all the pups survive. Big litters aren’t known for high survivability rates.
Tracy soon brought the pups home but she knew she couldn’t possibly care for all twelve of them.
Now if given the choice, anyone would want to keep all the pups but aside from having to dedicate so much time, it will be financially draining to do so.
Tracey needed to care for all the pups so she went to the living room and began to rearrange furniture to make room for the makeshift puppy nursery.
The energetic puppies soon began to grow, and as time passed, the Stuarts knew that it was soon time to put them up for adoption. Thankfully, all of the pups found loving homes.
And yes, all twelve pups survived.
Bess was also found a loving home. The adorable mom can now live the rest of her days peacefully.
Susan Zaleski took Bess in, happily welcoming the dog into their home. Bess soon found new young ones to look after. Susan’s kids.
“The first time I heard about Bess, we fell in love with her right away and knew immediately that this was our dog. Bess’ personality is….she is definitely a Nanny dog. She’s always checking on the kids. I do see a motherly instinct in her.”
After 10 months, Tracy had the idea of reuniting the dog family. It was a wonderful thought and soon, Tracy began preparations, with balloons and food for the dogs in a large field.
Her friends and family were all in too!
All twelve pups, now grown up, soon showed. We’re talking about Burrdie, Ginny, Gracie, Ruby, Osa, Louis, Drake, Rupert, Ranger, Seven, Ruby, and Sandy.
And when Bess came out, all 13 tails began wagging and soon it was a party. And perhaps what’s not so surprising is that Bess and her pups still recognized each other.
