They say there is no stronger bond in nature than that of a mother animal and her baby. One dog recently proved that when her puppy was injured.
The mother dog was howling non-stop, attracting human attention to the scene. When helpers arrived, they found the mother hunkered over her baby, who was in bad shape.
One man leaned down and gently stroked the baby’s head.
The mother dog let him, gently sniffing him to make sure he was safe. But for the most part, she seemed to realize that these people had come to help them.
The poor puppy was howling with pain. Whenever he began to cry, his mother cried, too, howling for help.
The puppy was taken to a facility where his injuries were treated.
He had deep wounds on one shoulder which caused him too much pain to even walk.
Helpers cleaned, dressed, and disinfected the wounds. Then they set the pup up in the facility for long-term care.
“He needed rest, food, and love,” said a video from Animal Aid Unlimited India. “Walking was painful but he wanted to try. His mother wanted to help but she couldn’t do it alone. She needed our help.”
The puppy, named Toggle, got better with the love and care he received at the facility.
Soon his shoulder healed, he was able to walk without pain, and he was once again a happy puppy who loved to snuggle, play, and give kisses.
“We all loved Toggle but someone was waiting for him back home,” said the video.
Toggle’s mother was overjoyed to see him. She immediately rushed over and began to nurse him along with his brothers and sisters. It was clear that they were happy to be together again.
She’s not the only dog who knew to reach out to humans for help.
A homeless dog in Romania named Buzu regularly tried to follow people on the street. Someone had put out a little box for him with a cushion. When rescue workers showed up to bring him to a facility, they found Buzu sick, hungry, and without his cushion.
“After so much time on the streets he seemed in a way resigned to his fate, to his life of unending loneliness,” said a video from Howl of a Dog, the agency that rescued Buzu. “His fur was riddled with fleas and had patches of hair missing on his neck, back, and tail. Deprived of medical care on the streets, his skin problems aggravated and became chronic.”
They brought him in for medical treatment.
His skin was in bad condition. Buzu was set to receive regular medicated baths to help his skin get back to normal.
“His teeth were extremely torn, due to improper food, such as bones that he most likely ate when he was homeless,” said the video. “Buzu spent one year in our care at Howl Of A Dog and then was adopted by a wonderful family from England.”
Unfortunately, his fur was too far gone to save.
But they were able to decrease his discomfort, and Buzu became a happy, healthy dog. These days, Buzu lives an incredible life full of love and family — and lots of cute doggie costumes.
