Cat lovers and fur parents, this adorable video will have you grabbing your cat and hugging them. Well if they don’t try to wriggle free and scratch you that is.
It’s the moment this mama cat realizes that her adorable kitten has opened its tiny eyes.
The first six weeks in a cat’s life is super important. They will be very needy and dependent but that period will determine a cat’s personality and character for life.
It’s a very important stage of development for the tiny cat.
Kittens are susceptible to parasites and upper respiratory infections. Combine those with other problems and that can lead to fading kitten syndrome.
A very serious and usually fatal condition.
Kittens, like puppies, are born with their eyes shut and ear canals closed. The world is beyond them so all they have is mom and the humans tasked to watch and help them.
Kittens are fully dependent on their mother.
Mom will clean them, keep them warm and safe, nurse them, and help them use the potty. They open their eyes open at about one to two weeks old, but will still have poor eyesight and hearing.
It’s in the following weeks that the kitten’s sight and hearing will develop to their full potential.
So that’s why this mama cat is on alert when her kitten starts moving around the makeshift bed. She knows what’s going on so she wants to be there for many reasons.
Any mom would want to witness their child’s first moments!
And yes, those baby blue eyes are gorgeous so take photos because they won’t last.
Just look at how concerned mama cat is, laying down on her side as she guides her little one using her paw. The kitten is strong enough to move around and explore on its own but mom can’t be too sure.
It’s just an overload of cuteness! Look at all that fluff!
Newborn kittens’ eyes are super sensitive to light, that’s why it takes about two weeks for them to open. So don’t try and force those little eyes open because they will get hurt.
And even if they open, there’s a protective fluid on those eyes.
Mama cat holds on to her little one, grooming the precious kitten so it knows that mom is there. And yes, moms will leave their kittens after two weeks or so but that doesn’t mean they didn’t love their young.
“I love how she is like come here, let me clean up your face. And the little kitten almost immediately falling asleep like opening up your eyes is exhausting. Such a cute moment.” says a viewer.
Just look at how relaxed mama cat is even with a camera focused on her.
Her lovely eyes are so expressive and full of love, as she watches her little one move around on its own. And someday, that tiny kitten will explore the world on its own.
