It’s hard to stay away from someone that you love a whole lot. Some of us might be able to manage, but others just can’t sit and wait for their loved ones to come back.
And this dog here is exactly the impatient type. She just couldn’t be kept away from her human.
Dogs are hard to blame for being so clingy. At least it’s amusing and adorable to watch, as we’re about to see. Sissy here is a miniature Schnauzer who loves her mom very much.
Her mom is Nancy Franck, and she’s in Mercy Medical center recovering from some cancer operations.
Sissy is no puppy. She’s 10-years-old and is about as senior as you can get for doggy years. Though given her small stature and clingy nature, we can’t blame you for mistaking Sissy for a puppy.
Surgery is a lot to deal with, and the recovery time can be long and isolating.
Imagine Nancy’s surprise when the little Schnauzer made it into her hospital room.
But how did she do that? The hospital is 20 blocks away from home.
Nancy, naturally, first thought that her daughter had brought the dog with her. But her daughter, Sarah Wood, assured her she did not.
So how did this pint-sized-pooch get all the way here?
The answer is: she just did.
“Did you sneak the dog in?” she asked her daughter at first. Her daughter’s reply was simply, “No, she snuck herself in”. Sissy had actually navigated her way across town, and opened the door herself to greet Nancy.
When you’re isolated in a room recovering from surgery, a visit from your sweet and loving dog could be some of the best medicine you can ask for.
Dale, Nancy’s husband, was looking after Sissy and Barney (their other dog) when the Schnauzer slipped out.
He had simply let the dogs go out to pee, and didn’t notice that Sissy had ran off.
After covering all those blocks and making it to the lobby at Mercy’s Medical center. There, the staff picked her up and brought her to Nancy.
Sarah humorously described what she thinks Sissy did afterwards.
“I’m sure when Sissy got home, she told Barney, ‘Guess who I got to see, and what I got to do, and where I went?”
When hospital security found Sissy, they phoned Dale back home who found the revelation surprising, but comforting.
“She found my number and house address from her tag on her collar. I was so relieved, and I asked my daughter go and pick her up.” – said Dale
She truly walked those 20 blocks on foot to get here, and that’s impressive no matter how you look at it.
