4-years is a long time to do anything, let alone something frustrating. That is exactly what this one homeowner went through, though.
He documented his unending struggle with the birds at his home.
Perhaps out of exhaustion, the man posted images of this epic battle to multiple social media sites.

The tale begins with the purchase of a new home.
This story begins the same way many horror films do, with the purchase of a new home.
This is a time of new beginnings for many people. Some might feel it is the start of them beginning to live “happily ever after.”
In films and in real life, sometimes, this couldn’t be any farther from the truth.
The man noted in his comments that the exhaust vent for the home’s gas fireplace provided a nice little place for birds to build a nest. And so the territorial conflict began!
“So we bought a new house. This house has a nice gas fireplace and the exhaust was tucked neatly away near the back door. The problem was, the little nook appeared to be a perfect place for birds to nest because of the protection of the roof and heat from the fireplace.”
The first appearance of birds is noticed.
The photo above is the first one the homeowner took when they noticed birds had been making a home of this area outside his house. At first, he thought nothing of it. Who wouldn’t want birds visiting from time to time?
Then things took a turn, however. The birds began depositing their droppings and building a nest inside the exhaust.
The birds are evicted from the home.
The man didn’t take any action until the following spring. He built a screen of chicken wire around the exhaust to prevent the birds from getting in.
At the time, he felt that this would surely end his territorial battle with the birds.
He was wrong.
The battle of the wits was not over. On the contrary, it was just getting started.
The birds just found a nice little spot on top of the exhaust to build their nest. Still, the man wasn’t too concerned.
The homeowner doubled down.
In order to prevent the birds from building a nest on top of the exhaust again, he put spikes in the area.
Unfortunately for him and very fortunately for the birds, however, the spikes stabilized and reinforced the nest they built.
The man would clear out the nest as soon as the birds were gone but they would continue to rebuild it after. They seemed to have found a stockpile of blue twine to use for this task as well.
The homeowner ups his spike game even further.
At this point, many people would just learn to live with the birds, maybe even grow to appreciate having them around. Not this guy, though.
This guy was on a mission. He put more bird spikes up all around the area.
The thing was taking on an uncanny likeness to Pinhead from the Hellraiser movie franchise. Not exactly a home improvement, if you get my drift.
But the birds are too legit to quit.
As the above image shows, the creative birds continued engineering their architectural masterpiece.
It’s likely that they were quite thankful for the man’s help in building such an extravagant home addition. On the other hand, maybe they just really enjoy messing with the new “neighbor”. It would be understandable.
The homeowner puts them in check, but not checkmate.
Since the bird spikes didn’t drive the birds away, the man then extended the chicken wire all the way up to the roof.
He must have thought there would literally be no way for the birds to continue building their nest at this point. He was wrong. So, so wrong.
The birds countered by building a gated community.
What the man would find out is that he left a small opening on the ride side of the chicken wire. This allowed the birds to access what had now become a gated bird-community.
The birds must have been thinking what a nice man this is, he fenced in their nest to keep predators out!
The homeowner fights fire with fire in a last-ditch effort.
A giant statue of an owl was then purchased and placed in the area. This appears to have done the trick for the time being, at least.
The man also decided to patch up the right side of the chicken wire just for good measure as well. Something tells us he hasn’t seen the last of them though.
