Dylan maras, an animal rehabilitator, decided to adopt and take care of a baby opossum he decided to name Lil Miss. He is her savior.
When he found Lil Miss, the opossum just lost her mother. Dylan found her so irresistibly cute but he knew she needed some attention to survive.
He gave her all she needed.

“When she was just a little baby, it was nonstop every two to three hours for four to five weeks, making sure that the temperature’s right in the incubator, making sure that she has food, and then you gotta weigh her after she’s fed every time to make sure she weighs a certain amount,” Dylan recounted.
He was very patient.
He took the whole caretaking responsibility seriously and emphasizes that it is how it should be.
Having pets is a responsibility no one should underestimate.

Dylan gave Lil Miss the best care.
And for this reason, she grew up to be a healthy opossum.
He also said, “the difference with Lil Miss was she actually started becoming more affectionate than I’ve ever seen in an opossum.”
Lil Miss “opened up a whole world of a personality.”
And just like that, the duo became the best of friends.

They formed such a special bond.
They would spend time roaming outdoors.
She would just be in Dylan’s pockets or get some sun on his hat.
Her sweet ways instantly caught her caretaker’s heart.
In fact, Dylan attempted to let Lil Miss go back into the wild.

But she always came back.
It’s clear that she wanted to stay by Dylan’s side for life. Lil Miss is different.
All the other animals Dylan was able to rehabilitate left as soon as he let them go, but not Lil Miss.
She prefers to be with Dylan than live freely in the wild.
“I always wanted her to have the chance of freedom because I didn’t wanna contain her,” Dylan remarked. “When she was released, she went away for nine hours. It was a really emotional moment because it’s like your child going out into the world.”

But Lil Miss came back.
Nine hours later, he found Lil Miss running up on his leg until she made it to his shoulder.
It was as if she was saying, “I’m home now, dad!”
The next day, he attempted to give Lil Miss her freedom again but she wouldn’t leave his side.

She is just the smartest thing!
“All of our animals are rescue ducks and chickens, six rescue cats, two rescue horses,” he shared. “Any animal that needs a home and we have a spot for, they’re welcome.”
What Dylan does is truly remarkable.
In a world where animals are abandoned freely, he takes them in and gives them all that they need to survive.
Lil Miss, along with the other animals in the sanctuary, are definitely lucky to have him.
