Not all chameleons are introverts.
Chameleons tend to be solitary creatures that aren’t overly enthusiastic about being handled. However, Taylor Shawn’s pet chameleon, Teemo, is all about the cuddles. Teemo is a Panther Chameleon with beautiful bright coloring.
In a now-viral YouTube video, Shawn invites viewers on a tour of ‘a typical morning routine’ with his chameleon, Teemo.
The video has over 1 million likes and has been viewed over 48 million times. Maybe its popularity is due to Teemo’s friendly and spunky personality when he is around Shawn.
Shawn captioned the video ‘When a Cameleon trusts you. :)‘ and described his relationship with his pet.
“Witness the bond of trust between Teemo, my pet panther chameleon, and myself. He is the friendliest chameleon out there! We’re so close, he spends the entire video (and most of the time) hanging out and climbing on me. Meet the star of the Tiki Teemo Collection!” – Taylor Shawn
As soon as Shawn approaches Teemo’s cage in the morning, the chameleon is ready to play.
Shawn asks Teemo if he wants to play on one of the plants and Teemo isn’t feeling it. Shawn takes him over to a small tree and asks him, “How about your tree?” This Teemo is willing to try. He slowly climbs down onto the branches but quickly changes his mind and wants to go back onto Shawn’s arm. The chameleon starts to crawl up to the camera and over the top of Shawn’s face. You can hear Shawn laughing while telling his pet, “Get off the camera!”
“And…he’s on my face now.” – Taylor Shawn
It is true that most chameleons want nothing to do with people or being held…Teemo is obviously blazing his own colorful trail. Teemo’s behavior is a result of the trust that has been built up by Shawn. In the video, you can see how the chameleon’s only interest is to climb on his owner. He would rather be with Shawn than on any plant.
Commenters had nothing but love for Teemo and Taylor.
Shawn’s collection of chameleons has increased since his video of Teemo went viral.
He posts about his new pets and their day-to-day adventures. His young Cameleon, Chroma, is gaining more and more trust each day.

‘Changing skin color is an important part of communication among chameleons. According to the San Diego Zoo, a chameleon’s skin changes colors in response to its emotions, such as anger or fear, changes in light, temperature or humidity.’ – livescience.com
‘The brighter the color, the more dominant the male is, and the more attractive he is to females. A submissive male is usually brown or gray. Females use their colors to accept or reject a suitor, and their color can also indicate that she is pregnant.’ – livescience.com
