Most of us go to the food market to buy what we need and the food that we would eat.
But when Arron Culling went to the food market one time, he had a different intention.
He wanted to buy turtles that were being sold as food in Papua New Guinea. Thankfully, he was able to buy two turtles.
What did he do to them?
Nope, he didn’t eat them. That was not his plan in the first place. He went there to save the turtles that were on the brink of death.
As he successfully bought them, Arron and his co-worker immediately went to the sea to bring them back home.
Aaron shared some photos of the turtles on Facebook. There are also pictures where it shows how he returned the turtles to the sea.
“Found these at the local market got them for 50 bucks drove 5km up the road and let them go,” he wrote on his post.
A lot of people appreciated Aaron’s kindness to the turtles.
90,000 people even shared his Facebook post. Apart from the shares, some people left positive comments on his post.
“True kiwi heart of gold right there! Turtles like that live to be older than us! Karma will come back to you when you least expect it Uncle Arron and it will be amazing! Amazing job,” one commenter wrote in the comment section.
Another Facebook user shared his post and captioned it with, “This is what a real hero looks like”.
Aaron is truly a hero.
What’s more amazing is those are not the first turtles he has saved because there are many more.
Imagine if Aaron was not there to buy the turtles, the poor sea creatures might have never seen their home again. Hopefully, many people would do what Arron did.
And of course, do our part to save the turtles and other sea creatures.
How can we save them? Well, aside from what Arron did, we can do these 5 things according to Defenders of Wildlife.
Since there are many instances that kill sea turtles, we should keep these in mind.
The first is to “shield, redirect and lower the intensity of the lights on your property”.
It’s because artificial lighting can have many effects on sea turtles. See some of them here.
The second is to be mindful of the trash that you produce.
Never throw garbage into and by the sea. As much as possible, make sure to pick up the garbages that you would spot on the beach especially plastics and any other objects that are dangerous for the sea turtles.

Make sure to be careful when you see sea turtle nesting areas.
It would also help a lot if you would lessen the number of chemicals you use.
Last but not the least is to involve yourself in cleaning up the sea by volunteering.
The two turtles that Arron has saved were not the only ones who experienced cruelty, there are actually many more.
