Thousands of dogs around the world have no home to go to. Instead, they would find a temporary place to hide and seek shelter, especially when they cannot trust anybody outside. This is the same with this pooch who chose to hide in a room full of trash as she has nowhere to go to.
An animal rescuer got a call from somebody about a sickly dog.
Theoklitos Proestakis is the founder of a non-profit animal shelter and rescue in a town in Crete, Greece called the Takis Shelter. The man had been rescuing stray dogs and cats in Crete ever since he founded the shelter over six years ago.
One day, he received a call from someone requesting to check an abandoned dog that was hiding in some storage room. Proestakis “Takis” immediately sprang into action to see the matter with his own eyes. When he arrived, he saw a weak, female Labrador, resting itself on top of a pile of garbage that was tossed in the room.
The moment Takis went close to the dog was heartbreaking.
One could immediately cry after only just one look at the poor pooch in a submissive position while giving out sad wails. Perhaps the dog was injured since she felt she had no other choice but to stay in one spot.
Although the Labrador looked very afraid, she did not hesitate to wag her tail as she saw the man going toward her. When Takis reached the dog, she let herself be petted for a few seconds, and surprisingly, she seemed to love the treatment. Seeing the dog was tame, Takis went back to his truck to get a carrier for her.
In the first few days, the dog would not go out of her carrier.
Takis coaxed the pooch in and carried her back home, but the moment they arrived, the dog just refused to go outside. She felt she was safe inside there and so Takis delivered her food as he figured that the pooch after everything that happened. The other animals in Takis’ shelter may have sniffed a new possible member as a curious cat came to see her in the cage that she was in.
It did not take long for the pooch to get used to her new home.
Takis named the adorable pooch Luna and she was faring way better at her new home than he expected. Luna gained weight as she ate more and more food than before, and her color was slowly coming back to a much livelier one.
Even though she was still limping, she enjoyed her time playing and running around with the other dogs. Takis was really ecstatic as he saw the fruits of his efforts. He got to see Luna’s improvements, and he even realized that she was becoming happier every single day at the shelter.
We would be having “happy tails” too seeing Luna’s amazing transformation.
What Takis had done to her was simply pure and heart-melting. Luna would always be wagging her “happy tail” every time that she is around him. After a couple of months at Takis’ shelter, Luna was moved to her new home in Germany.
