What would you do if you spotted an animal on the highway? Not only would there be an obvious danger to the animal, any kind of object on a main road could also be the cause of a car accident – so if you’re brave enough, the best thing to do would be to try and coax the animal off the road. Of course, this isn’t always possible, and we’d advise only getting out of your car if it’s safe enough to do so. But if it is, then you could be saving more than one life!
So when a man spotted a baby horse in the middle of a highway one day, he was determined to try and get the foal back to safety. Luckily, the road seemed to be pretty quiet at that time of day, and the man was able to coax the foal towards the traffic barrier where the mom was waiting, before quickly lifting the horse over to safety.
The adorable video was first shared onto YouTube by The Dodo back in 2016, and the clip has since been viewed over 6,000 times. Titled, “Baby Horse Stranded On Highway Gets Rescued,” the clip begins with the man approaching the tiny foal in his car.
The horse is stood in the middle of the road like a deer in the headlights, and it’s clear to see just how scared she is.
Not only is the foal in grave danger from being on the road, but if she cannot get reunited with her mom then her chances of survival are still very low. She urgently needs a hero to come and help save her life.
Luckily, the quick-thinking man wastes no time in stopping his car and getting out to try and help. At first, the foal is hesitant to trust the man, and she runs straight to her mama who is waiting at the side of the road for her. But the small horse is not big enough to jump over the road barriers, so she’s unable to get close to her mom.
Despite probably never having picked up a horse before, the man manages to get close enough to the horse to wrap his arms around her body and lift her over the barriers. The mom is clearly grateful to the man, and as soon as she is reunited with her foal, the pair join a group of horses who then all gallop off down the field together.
With that, the man could now get back in his car, knowing that he had probably just saved the baby horse’s life.
The video seemed to touch the hearts of people all over YouTube, and many took to the comments to share their love for the video. One person said:
“I cried! This is beautiful.”
Another added:
“Aww so sweet! What a hero!”
This man is certainly a hero in our eyes too. Thanks to his selfless actions, this horse’s life has been saved, and we’d hate to think what would have happened if he hadn’t have been there. Watch the emotional video below.
