So much of life is about being in the right place at the right time. Though this sometimes means being in the right situation for personal gain, it can also mean having an opportunity to help someone else. That was the case in the video below when a good samaritan was able to perform a delicate animal rescue.
A man was walking one day when he came upon a wooden bridge. Because it had been built some time ago, the construction was a little old and there were lots of gaps between the slats. Though he could clearly see a big brown steed standing in the middle of the path, he only understood why as he got closer. As it turned out, the horse was a mom and her little foal had fallen beside her and had its leg stuck beneath the slats.
It was apparent that something would have to be done in either case—the man couldn’t pass by the horses without lending a helping hand and the mom seemed unable to do anything to help herself. After all, she could’ve accidentally knocked her baby loose and had it fall beneath the bridge and into the river!
Setting the camera down, the man approached the two horses very cautiously. After holding out his hand for the little foal to scent (and catching the mom’s eye to make sure everything was kosher), he moved to pull the foal loose. Though he succeeded in getting the foal back on top of the path without getting kicked himself, it seemed that the poor little thing was having trouble walking on the rickety bridge.
The man tried again to get the horse upright but again it seemed to collapse under its own weight. After a moment of consideration, he stooped down and picked the foal up, carrying it to the end of the bridge with the mother close behind.
Fortunately, everything turned out well for all parties involved: the foal was safely freed, the mother was able to proceed with her baby and the man didn’t get injured during the process! Stories like these are the true gems of the internet. Although this was just a moment in an anonymous man’s life that came and went, his kindness likely meant the world to those two animals—and because he filmed it all, millions of people across the world get to share in it as well.
