As California wildfires ravage through more than 100,000 acres of land destroying property and possessions, people are reminded of the things the matter most in life… especially life itself.
Such tragedies have turned ordinary men into heroes that aim to save what is nearest and dearest to their hearts.
That meant saving the life of a wild rabbit for one man. The entire sky was lit up bright orange and filled with smoke when the rabbit shot across traffic and into the nearby brush that was set ablaze.
A man wearing a hoodie can be seen walking toward the animal. He looks terribly distraught and concerned and jumps up and down calling out to the animal and holding his hands up to his head.
You can tell that he is anxious and upset as he tries to figure out how to save the wild rabbit.
Finally, he moves closer to the brush toward the flames. That’s when the rabbit runs toward him and allowed the man to scoop him up as cars are whizzing by on the nearby road.
Poor little rabbit he must have been so scared! The entire rescue was captured on film. You can hear confused onlookers in the background of the video wondering what the man is doing.
“What is he doing,” one asks.
“He’s saving an animal!” another calls out.
“Is he?”
“Yeah!”
The man apparently declined to be interviewed on camera, according to ABC News, but some people are calling him a hero. Others had different nice things to say.
“The fact that he declined an interview makes it even better,” said one Twitter user. “He was so gentle with the rabbit.”
“Dear Stranger: EVERY woman I know, and several men, will now want to date you. Compassion for animals is very attractive!” said another.
And some people were a little dramatic about it but happy to see someone doing something nice for someone who couldn’t return the favor.
“Damn… and just like that my faith in humanity is restored. We’re definitely broken right now but THIS? This means we’re going to be okay. Thanks, young man, for being a good person. Our world needs a lot more people like you. I’m sure his mother is none too happy with him tho.”
