In October 2018, a man named Surachet Klaewkla was walking to work in Trang, Thailand. As he was walking through the village, he heard a series of high-pitched cries.
Klaewkla looked around, trying to figure out where the cries were coming from. Finally, he realized the cries were coming from a nearby construction site.
Klaekwla walked through the construction site, following the sound of the cries. In the end, he traced the cries to a muddy well in the middle of the construction site.
Klaewkla looked down into the well and saw five tiny, mud-covered balls moving around. The creatures were so encrusted in mud, it was hard to tell what type of animal they were.
Klaewkla immediately decided to save the puppies. He lifted the grate off the top of the well and climbed inside. Then, he gently scooped up each of the mud-encrusted puppies and put them on the ground.
“I thought they were rocks, but after looking closely, they are puppies!” Klaewkla wrote on Facebook.
Klaewkla carried the muddy puppies home, and his family members all pitched in to help clean up the little animals.
The family hosed off all the puppies and scrubbed them down with towels. Soon, the puppies were squeaky clean. Klaewkla was amazed to see how fluffy and cute they were.
As Klaewkla and his family played with the puppies, they fell in love with them. In the end, the family decided to adopt all five of the little animals.
Klaewkla shared photos of his incredible puppy rescue on Facebook, and the post quickly went viral, receiving more than 30,000 likes and shares. Everyone loved seeing the way the puppies transformed after they were cleaned up.
Many different news agencies picked up the story—everyone loved hearing about Klaewkla’s act of kindness!
Across Thailand, people were talking about what Klaewkla did. Everyone was amazed by the way Klaewkla took time out of his day to help these little puppies.

The puppies have been with Klaewkla and his family for about three months and they’re doing great! These little animals have found a wonderful place to call home, and they have an amazing dad who loves them more than anything.
When these puppies fell into the muddy well, they were most likely terrified. Thankfully, someone heard their cries and came along to save them. We’re so glad these puppies found such a wonderful forever home.
