Once a person has a child, their Instagram feed becomes filled with photos of the said child.
These photos can be completely alien to someone who is single.
Though Gordy Yates and his sister are twins, their lives couldn’t be more different.
He decided to have a little fun with this fact and conduct a photo shoot with a cat to make light of differences.
It would serve as a gift for his sister on their 28th birthday.
“My twin sister Meredith is so great and I am so bad,” he explained on his blog the Gordy (Gordy) Blog.
“Every year on my birthday, she gets me something cool: a t-shirt, a funny book, something she wanted to get rid of but chose to give to me instead, and so much more. And no matter where I’ve lived, she’s always either sent the gift in a package or saved it to give to me later.”
Gordy, however, never gets his sister anything for her birthday.
“I mean, I guess it could be because we live very different lives. I’ve been living the single life of parties and traveling while she’s been married and has two kids,” Gordy said. “It’s like I feel that I’m not quite an adult so I don’t need to give people things but they should give things to me.”
But this year would be different. Gordy wanted to show his sister just how much he loves and appreciates her.
Especially since his sister is the only one in their family who plans to visit him in Taiwan.
Since she is “VERY social media” he decided that he would recreate some of the Instagram photos she posted this year. He would take 28 photos for her 28th birthday.
Since he’s in Taiwan, he doesn’t have any pets. So, he had to borrow someone’s cat to use in place of her child and the results were absolutely hilarious.
“By looking at these photos, you’ll see how cool she is!” he explains.
Some of the photos involve him in funny poses wearing yoga pants and bright colored sandals or other clothes similar to what she wore in her photos.
He even dons some black lipstick in one of the photos for a goth look.
But the best photos are the ones with the cat.
Since he doesn’t have any children of his own, he uses the kitty cat as a stand-in for his sister’s kids in the photos.
I mean, our pets are basically our children anyway so I guess it works.
“They both like to eat off of and crawl on the floor, they both like to bite me, they’re both really small, they’re both really hard to control. And I can’t give birth to either of them,” Gordy told Babble.
Gordy’s photos ended up going viral which made his birthday present to his sister a success.
“Happy 28th Meredith! Hope I can catch up to you someday!” he wrote.
Gordy says hopes to have children of his own someday.
“I think once you have a kid, you get to be a kid again and grow up all over again.” Yates tells Babble. “Plus I am really excited to see my face on another human being’s body. They’re gonna be so cute!”
