There could be thousands or even millions of animals who are in desperate situations needing help.

That is why even if there are so many people who are helping animals in need, we could still do more.

Just like what Andreas did when he saw a dog that needed help.

Andreas lives in Bali, Indonesia. There, he is one of the people who established Kintamani Campur, a rescue center for animals.

One day, Andreas noticed a very weak dog who was shaking at the side of the road. It didn’t have any fur, and it was obvious that the poor dog needed urgent help.

The dog couldn’t even stand up.

Andreas didn’t know what to do, but when the dog saw him, she tried her best to at least sit up. She wanted to live and knew that the man in front of her could help.

Without a second thought, Andreas took the poor dog to the vet, and there, they diagnosed her with distemper.

Andreas asked the vet to do everything they could to save the dog he called “Baley,” even though he didn’t know what distemper was.

Distemper is a very dangerous and contagious viral disease that could affect a wide range of animals.

It’s from the canine distemper virus (CDV), which is a member of the Paramyxoviridae family of viruses, and it is highly contagious.

Some of the symptoms of distemper include high fever, coughing and sneezing, vomiting, and diarrhea.

You would also see some neurological signs such as seizures and paralysis, and in some cases, if left untreated or if treated late, it could cause death.

That is why it was important that Andreas took the poor dog to the vet as soon as he could.

There, she was treated and given the needed medicine for her illness.

Baley would often look for Andreas and she would feel at ease when he was there.

“When she looked at me, she said, ‘Thank you’,” Andreas recalled in an interview with The Dodo.

Even without words, Andreas felt the gratitude in Baley’s eyes. She was so happy to be in good hands.

Every day, Andreas would drive to the vet clinic to check on Baley and spend time with her.

For the kind Samaritan, he knew that it was important for Baley to know that there was someone who cared for her.

Soon, with the love and care that she received, Baley started eating and drinking again. Every day, Baley would try to lift her body and try to move her front and back legs.

It wasn’t easy for her, but whenever she sees Andreas, she would try again.

All her efforts paid off.

Soon, Baley was able to stand up, then after a few days, she could walk again.

When Andreas noticed Baley was on the road to recovery, he made the decision to bring her home.

As soon as she arrived in her new home, she recovered more.

The new and healthy environment gave way for the dog to thrive, and develop a new friendship with Andreas and his other dog, Sophie.

Her tail wagged, her fur grew back, and she loved her new life!

There was still some twitching due to the distemper, but she’s doing so well.

Baley loved going to the beach.

There, she would run, play, and just enjoy life.

Whenever Andreas watches Baley, he couldn’t believe the journey she had been through. Now, she’s recovering, playful, eats well, and is very happy.
