Although mountain lions are glorious and regal creatures, we all hope that we don’t run into one in the wild.

But imagine running into 4 or 5 of them all at once–that would get your blood pumping.

For one homeowner in Colorado, this was exactly the situation that he found himself in.

Luckily, he was inside and the group of mountain lions was on the porch.

Had he run into them while outside in the yard, this may have turned into a very different story.

The group of lions seems to have come all the way up onto this man’s porch in order to drink out of his fountain.

Whether or not they just came up out of curiosity and then decided to have a drink, we’ll never know.

But one thing is for sure, this was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for the homeowner.

I’ve been backpacking and hiking for most of my life.

I’ve gone deep into mountain lion territory and still have yet to see one of these amazing creatures.

As he films out his window, the four big cats casually drink from the water fountain by the edge of his deck.

They take turns looking up and checking out their situation, seemingly completely at ease with where they are.

After a while, a few of the cats get their fill of water and decide to walk around the deck.

Even the way that they walk is intimidating–their paws land with such force and power.

You can only imagine what these cats could do in a fighting situation.

When they all get enough water, they each spread out and walk around the deck.

One of the lions even jumps up onto the railing of the deck and walks along with ease.

Their balance is amazing and seems to be aided by their long tails.

Once the lions fulfill their curiosity about the place, they walk down the stairs and back to the ground.

The homeowner, who is still filming them from inside the house, follows them with the camera as they walk away, whispering to them as they leave.

They reach the ground and leave the house just as quickly as they arrived, completely unconcerned with who saw them or where they are.

To see a mountain lion in the wild would be a real treat.

But because of their stealth-like qualities, they are hard to come across in the wild.

According to The National Wildlife Federation, “Mountain lions are stealthy predators, hunting at night and often lying in wait for prey or silently stalking it before pouncing from behind and delivering a lethal bite to the spinal cord. Typically they prey on deer, but also feed on smaller animals, even insects, when necessary. Like all cats, mountain lions are strict carnivores, and they only rarely consume vegetation.”

So odds are, you’ll go your whole life without ever seeing one of these awesome cats.

But the next time that you are out in the wilderness in North America, make sure to be aware that the cats are there.
