What’s the coolest thing you’ve ever stumbled upon?
I found a $353 left alone in a gym once.
To this day, it’s one of my greatest random discoveries.
But not all discoveries are boxes of sunshine. Some a tragic.
Others are horrifying.
This specific “stumbling upon” could haunt your dreams for a while…
So if you continue reading, don’t say you weren’t warned!
Now then, welcome to the Wildlife Wonderland park of Bass, Victoria in Australia.
Crazy, fascinating stuff happens in Australia. That’s undeniable.
Wildlife Wonderland was forced to close its doors in 2012 due to alarming animal welfare concerns.
The park’s been abandoned for quite some time.
I wonder what they left behind…
With a camera and fearlessness in hand, Luke McPherson set out to find out. In fact, Luke used to frequent this same park as a child!
After passing the eutrophic welcome pound, he heads inside…
What do you think of sharks?
Do they scare you?
Because if so… you’re probably not ready for what’s next.
Luke delves deeper into the abandoned structure.
What he found is almost unbelievable!
It’s like a cross between a sci-fi and Jaws…
Well, I’d certainly nope right out of this situation.
But the fearless Luke explores the property further.
It’s like the lab of an evil scientist!
What madness lies within the container?
Someone’s trash is another’s treasure.
And some “treasure” is absolutely horrifying!
Luke shines a light on the tank.
I apologize in advance for what you’re about to see…
So what exactly are we looking at?
Look closer…
Yes, that ghostly image is what you think it is.
That’s a preserved shark. And it’s no ordinary shark!
Look at that jaw…
Don’t believe me? Well, here’s a view with the lights on…
It’s massive!
You certainly don’t find abandoned, preserved sharks every day.
They’re somewhat of a rarity… like a once-in-a-lifetime kind of discovery.
So what type of shark is this, exactly?
You guessed it.
It’s a Great White.
Sharks can be pretty scary. Never mess with an apex predator!
But don’t hate sharks!
Some popular species are indeed top predators, but most sharks are harmless and wouldn’t even mess with a human to begin with!
Keep in mind that the greatest shark in cinematic history Jaws may have been a horrifying shock, but Finding Nemo‘s Bruce paints sharks in a completely different light.
Sharks have problems, too!
Anyway, someone could make an amazing Halloween attraction with the remnants of this abandoned wildlife center!
The wildlife park clearly has a sketch past regarding animal rights.
Plus, that tank is obviously way too small for a great white shark!
“This wildlife park was closed down in 2012 due to offences against the wildlife. They also did not hold a license to display native animals to the public.”
According to Luke, nothing’s changed since the park closed!
“Due to the operator of this park not being able to obtain the license needed to run this park, they were evicted and surrendered all the animals to the rspca. Since then this park has just been sitting, nothing so far has been done with it. There’s no news on if its being sold or going to be turned into something else.”
Anyway, what do you think of sharks? What’d you think of this shark?
Some of those images sent chills down my spine!
I hope you don’t have nightmares tonight! I think I might… But don’t worry about me.
It’s part of the job.
