Aww!
Proud mama duck parades her new babies through longterm care home each year
Oh my cuteness. This is one proud little mama. She shows off her babies on the very same route each year.

An adorable display of pride marched right into our hearts after a hospital in New York shared photos of a mama duck and her babies.

Residents and nurses at the continuing care wing at the University of Rochester’s Thompson Health hospital were the lucky witnesses of the yearly march.

Trust us, it’s an adorable sight to behold.

The hospital shared photos of the annual event on their Facebook page. It was momentous for everyone involved. Along with the parade of ducks, there followed a parade of helpful staff to encourage them along the way.

Mama duck lets everyone know when it’s time to march.

“Every year, without fail, a mama duck chooses one of the enclosed courtyards at our M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center to lay her eggs and take care of her babies…She lets us know when she’s ready to go by tapping on the glass, and this morning, it was time for this annual rite of spring.” – Staff mentioned on the hospital’s Facebook page.

The hospital staff had to direct the ducklings.

To make sure the little ducklings and their mama didn’t venture off along a hospital corridor or into a back room, the staff made sure to get supplies ready.

They had large pieces of cardboard handy for just this very occasion. The ducklings and mama duck eventually made it out the door safe and sound.

And their work here is done.

Photos on the Thompson Health Facebook page included one of a patient watching the adorable procession.

It’s obvious that this annual event brings a lot of joy to everyone involved.

The ducklings are on their way.

After following the exact same path she does each year, mama duck has successfully come to the end of her march through the hospital.

The staff put a nutritious snack of mealworms on the pavement for the babies to enjoy while they did a proper headcount.

Now, they are ready to make their way into the great outdoors.

Staff and patients wave goodbye till next year. A total of 13 ducklings were seen marching this year.

A caption on the Facebook page described a tense moment as staff steers the ducklings in the right direction.

“The staff tries to steer the family toward an inlet for a brook leading to Canandaigua Lake. Ultimately, the mama had other plans. At one point, she flew away, and then one of the ducklings hid under a bush next to a nearby office building. After much searching, the staff found the duckling and the mama returned.”

“There they go! Good luck, guys. We’ll miss you!” – Thompson Health Facebook

I’m sure the ducks are very grateful for their safe passage through the hospital corridors. This mama clearly chose a great place to nest.

The adorable ducklings all follow her lovingly to their new home.
