One of the many great things about dads is they love to play around with their kids. Sometimes, that means tossing them in the air while other times, it involves wrestling on the floor. But on occasion, things get a little too rough. While certainly not intended, that’s usually when you hear the mom’s voice, “Okay…settle down.”
As seen in a video with more than 2.2 million views, it seems the same scenario plays out among cats. You’ve probably heard the term “mama bear.” Well, in this case, it was a mama cat who got upset with her baby’s dad.
Cats spend a lot of time playing
If they’re not sleeping, which usually accounts for 16 hours of their day, cats are playing. Whether kittens or full-grown adults, they’ll chase each other through the house, ponce on top of each other, and just act silly. But when one daddy cat went too far, the mama made sure he knew she was watching his every move.
Kittens will be kittens
Just like human toddlers, kittens know just how to push their mom and dad’s buttons. They’ll wait until one parent is sound asleep to jump on top of them. Or they’ll sneak up, bat one on the head, and then run away. So, we can understand how this particular kitty might’ve been part of the problem. Of course, they always have that look of “I didn’t do anything” on their face.
She’s an instigator
Do you remember when we said the kitten might’ve been part of the problem? Well, here’s proof. This beautiful daddy cat is minding his own business when the kitty bites down on his tail. At first, the dad gives his “kid” a gentle bop on the face. But then he decides to join in on the fun.
It’s playtime
Taking the kitten’s invitation, the daddy cat starts playing. From the viewer’s perspective, it all looks innocent. The dad is being extra gentle and you don’t hear any whimpers coming from the baby. But to the mama cat, dad might be pushing things too far.
Mama’s checking out the situation
Before judging too harshly, the mama cat stands close while surveying the situation. Next, she sniffs around. Although the mama cat’s satisfied that everything’s fine, the dad worries he’s in trouble. So, he moves away from the kitten, giving the mama a chance to check her out. And she does, sniffing her from head to tail.
Yep…all’s good
As soon as the mama cat feels comfortable, she walks away. Then sneakily, the dad carefully swats the kitten’s tail, enticing her to start playing again. Instead, she just wants to sit close to her daddy. Since his baby doesn’t feel like roughhousing anymore, he decides to move somewhere entirely different in the room.
Mama has everything under control
When the daddy cat decides to leave the room altogether, mama is still on high alert. She immediately jumps up to see what he’s up to. In the meantime, the sweet kitten just watches…she has no clue what her parents are doing.
One poster nailed the video by saying, “Mama is like you better not mess with my baby.” Another person commented, “The best part is when the daddy cat starts to lick his kitten’s forehead when the mama jumped in. Like the loving father he thinks he is. How cute.”
