No one could guess how many dogs are left suffering on the streets today in this world. It even takes someone with a heart to help a stray dog back on its feet, just like this woman who happened to pass by a lone puppy on the road.
This woman saves a two-month-old, malnourished pup on her own.
Tamara Johnson happened to be in the right place at the right time when she saw this puppy. She was just stopping by to grab a cold drink at a local shop when she first caught a glimpse of this poor pup. At the time, the puppy was infested with fleas and was severely malnourished. No one knows how this pup came to be this way, but Tamara knew that she had to help this one.
The poor pup was incredibly lucky to have met this woman.
Tamara named the pup, Basil, and she carried him back to her car. At that moment, something changed about the once anxious pup – he was way calmer than before.
“I honestly believe it was a huge relief for him. It was almost like he knew someone was going to help him,” Tamara said. “He didn’t move, he just snuggled into my arms and fell asleep. He knew he was safe.”
Tamara continued her journey to the vet to save the poor pup’s life.
At the veterinarian, Basil was given some fluids and medicines to help him feel better. They also did a thorough check on the puppy’s condition. Tamara offered to foster Basil, but he had to stay for few more days at the hospital before then.
Despite that, the puppy remained well-behaved because he knows that they were there to save him. If Basil were left there for another day, he could not have survived. It was difficult enough for a puppy to look for food and fend for himself.
A new home for this well-deserving pup.
Tamara was able to foster Basil for three months. By that time, you could already observe great changes regarding his appearance as well as his health. Furthermore, someone from the U.K. was interested in taking him to his forever home. Tamara of course sent him to his new parents and now he has transformed into a sweet and cuddly pooch.
He really loves the hugs and kisses he gets from his new parents. He appreciates every single gesture of love that is being shown by his new fur parents.
The stray dog problem in Thailand.
According to Bangkok Post in 2016, in Thailand alone, there was an estimated number of over 8.5 million dogs. But about 730,000 of them are abandoned by their owners. Who knows how many stray dogs there are this year? As the issue is still prevalent during this time, a lot of volunteers, rescuers, and shelters are working hand in hand to address the problem in their own way.
Thanks to Tamara’s efforts, she was able to save a life. It may not be that a big change to the impending problem, but hopefully, this will inspire others to be a Good Samaritan like her.
