Ignorance is bliss. But sometimes, it can have really deadly consequences.

In 2021, Kaylin Phillips and her friends were having fun in Bali not knowing they were just seconds away from certain death.
On one of their beach trips, Phillips’ group was passing around a small octopus.
In the video, the tiny octopus was crawling from one hand to another. At one point, one of her friends even suggested that they eat the creature.
When she posted the encounter on Instagram, she couldn’t believe what they just encountered. The small octopus, almost golden in color, had very obvious markings. It’s called the blue-ringed octopus and it’s known to be the most poisonous creature in the planet.
The toxin it carries is enough to kill 26 adults.
The blue-ringed spider is just one of the most fearsome creatures around. In 2018, a museum was thrown into panic when they discovered one of the spider tanks was empty.
The guest at the Philadelphia Insectarium and Butterfly Pavilion isn’t just any other spider – it’s a sand spider or a sicarius.
These spiders inject venom that can cause severe tissue damage. There is no known anti-venom for sicarius bites.
Venomous animals are usually exotic animals.
For some people, this means they can charge heftier prices when smuggling them. 20 poisonous dart frogs were found in a bathroom airport in Colombia.
Among the frogs found were rare ones like the critically endangered Lehmann’s poison frog. The vibrantly colored frog native to the Colombian Pacific Coast can fetch as high as $2000.
In Texas, beachgoers were oblivious to the dangers of a beautiful creature.
The blue sea dragon, a type of slug, infested the beaches and swam amongst Spring Break goers. And while mesmerizingly beautiful, local wildlife experts warned the public not to come in contact with the slug because of its sting.
The sting can cause immense pain that can further lead to nausea, vomiting, acute allergic contact dermatitis, and inflammation.
These are just some of the deadliest creatures living among us.
Besides the blue-ringed octopus, the box jellyfish is considered also as the most venomous aquatic organism.
Its toxin is designed to overpower the circulatory and nervous systems. Many mysterious swimming deaths are attributed to the jellyfish.
We can’t talk about the deadliest without mentioning snakes. The inland taipan is considered as one of the most dangerous snakes as it has the highest median dose of venom compared to other snakes. Fortunately, these snakes are quite shy, and encountering them is pretty rare.
People all over the internet also shared their thoughts about these encounters.
“We really need to teach people that pretty colors in nature mean they are probably venomous,” one commenter said, talking about aposematism. “I remember learning about this at school, but some people apparently just forgot about it.”

“I’ve always been told that if it’s something you know nothing about don’t touch it. And if it’s brightly colored, really, don’t even think about touching it.” Said another.
