Thanksgiving is a special holiday. It’s a time when you gather with family, chow down on some amazing food, and give thanks for all the blessings in your life. Most recently, on this past Thanksgiving, one little kitten had a lot to be thankful for.

It all started when the Binghams, a loving family from Garden City, Utah, were celebrating Thanksgiving in their cozy vacation home. Usually, there wasn’t much snow at this time of year. But, the night before, a giant snowstorm had passed, leaving roughly a foot of white powder in its wake.

The kids were excited to get out and play— but when they reached the porch, they saw a rather “chilling” sight. A few feet from the porch lay a tiny, cream-colored kitten. The baby was motionless and frozen stiff, and the children were obviously devastated.

The children rushed inside to get their mother and Uncle Brendan, who were just as heartbroken and upset. The situation looked hopeless, but the family didn’t think the kitten was dead yet. They would have to try to save him.

Scooping up the kitten, the family rushed inside. Another uncle, Uncle Jason, had taken a few vet classes in college and immediately got to work trying to save the little feline.

Jason held the kitten near the living room fireplace, hoping the heat from the embers would start to warm him. Although the kitten was getting warmer, the fire wasn’t doing enough. Not willing to give up on the baby, Jason flipped him over and started administering kitten CPR.

Uncle Jason refused to give up, giving the kitten CPR for nearly a full hour. The family then made the baby a bed and laid him down, hoping he’d wake up. The kitten didn’t stir immediately, but after getting a whiff of some yummy food, he finally started to move and squirm.

The kitten, who the family named Lazarus, had somehow managed to survive his “chilling” incident. He was adopted by one of the cousins and is very loved in his new home.
