Getting married is a giant step in one’s life. When you get married, you are telling the person you love that you will be together forever. To cherish and to hold, in sickness and in health, yadda yadda yadda. You know the deal. Last year, one man decided he wanted to take the leap with his girlfriend of 2 years, and he made his proposal in the most adorable and heartwarming way.
Kat Woodley and her boyfriend Jared Forsyth had been dating for two years when Jared knew she was ‘the one’. The two had met on a blind date and instantly connected. They shared a love of animals which they expressed in the form of their beloved dog Shamus.
When Jared decided he was going to propose, he knew an animal would have to be involved. He waited patiently, holding his breath for the right moment when finally the opportunity arose.
He and Kat had been debating adopting a kitty. The kitty was named Gandalf, and the couple had visited him prior to making up their minds. When the day came for Kat and Jared to finally take him home, Jared knew he would have to act fast.
On the day Gandalf the kitten was set to come home, Kat went to the Eerie County branch of the SPCA to pick him up. Unbeknownst to her, however, Jared was already there— hiding and waiting.
“The SPCA told me they were filming it to promote adoption so I wasn’t suspicious,” Kat said in an interview with Metro.
“I thought Jared was at work.”
In this video, which has been viewed over 57,000 times, you see an SPCA staff member hand Kat her new kitty.
“They handed me Gandalf and asked me to read the tag,” she said. “Jerad’s aunt works at the SPCA, so I figured she bought us the name tag.”
The footage of Jared’s proposal went completely viral. Kat said, “The reaction is crazy to me, but Jared did a great job with the proposal and Gandalf is so cute! I can see why many people love the story!”
