It’s fair to say that cats and dogs don’t always have the best relationship. Despite dogs being so much bigger than cats, it’s often the cat who ends up continuously asserting its dominance over the dog- sometimes to the point where the dog becomes scared of the cat.

How often have you seen a huge labrador cowering away from their kitty sibling?

It’s a hilarious sight to behold- though we often can’t help feeling sorry for the dog.

Bullying aside, dogs and cats are actually able to get on pretty well. It all depends on a few different factors, like their breed, their background, and what age they meet.

If a dog has been brought up with cats, then he’s much more likely to get on with other cats in the future- and vice versa for cats. However, animals with more difficult backgrounds full of violence and mistreatment may be wary around other animals of a different breed.

The best age to introduce cats and dogs is when they’re both young, since they won’t have already formed any rigid opinions about the world.

According to Purina, “Cats and dogs are much more likely to become lifelong friends if they meet each other from the very start, as they’ll be able to grow up together and learn how the other wants them to behave as they’re still discovering the world around them.”

This next video is proof that dogs and cats can get on, no matter what the size difference.

Bagheera the Great Dane was more than a little overwhelmed when his kitty sibling gave birth to some kittens. A video shared by Rumble Viral captures his first impressions of the tiny kittens, and it’s clear that he’s caught the eye of one little black kitten in particular.

Despite being only the size of his front paw, the bold kitten seems fascinated by Bagheera, and stares up at him with a mixture of curiosity and playfulness.

She might be small but she’s fearless- and hilariously, the brave little kitten begins to use Bagheera’s leg as a chew toy.

Bagheera still seems pretty overwhelmed by these tiny, sharp balls of fluff, but as the little black kitten digs her claws into his arm, it seems to bring out a fatherly side to him.

Like a parent scolding their child, the Great Dane lifts up his gigantic paw and sets it down gently onto the kitten’s back, as if to say, “enough now.”

The weight of his paw is so much, that the poor kitten’s behind is flattened! Not that she seems in any bit fazed.

“I like the way that Mama cat takes a peek at her babies, decides that they’re all okay and leaves them in good paws,” one person observed.
