As you can see in this heartwarming video, Hop is a very playful kangaroo. Hop decided that he would like to play with the family’s pet cat. However, the cat was sleeping and does not seem to be in the mood to play with Hop.

As soon as the cat wakes up and realizes she is an unwilling playmate for this mischievous kangaroo, she jumps up and runs away, leaving Hop looking upset, confused, and unsure of what to do next.

Hop looks after the kitty as she runs off as if questioning her “why don’t you want to play with me?” It then appears that Hop realizes he was playing too rough with the kitty and understands that he needs to apologize.

Speaking cat.

Hop, realizing that petting the kitty did not work out how he had planned, decides to take a page right out of a kitty handbook. He’s seen the cat grooming herself every day, so he decides that grooming or licking her is probably the way to approach this apology.

Hop begins licking the cat, looking at her lovingly. This is Hop’s way of expressing his remorse for playing too rough with her earlier. It looks like his apology works, as the two are back to being buddies.

Check out those claws!

Perhaps the cat doesn’t want to be awoken by this playful kangaroo petting him with those razor-sharp claws. While Hop was petting the sleeping cat, with the hopes of her wanting to play with him, you can see his claws! This was not the wake-up welcome the cat wanted.

Fun fact: A kangaroo’s claws are sharp enough to slice open a human abdomen. If I were that cat, and I woke up to those claws, I’d make a run for it too!

Although kangaroos are extremely cute and look so cuddly, they are not a good choice for a pet. Did you see those claws?

Besides, the claws, kangaroos need plenty of room outside to roam and graze. Kangaroos are actually quite shy, easily stressed out, and tend to avoid people.

Fun kangaroo facts.

Kangaroos are one of 300 species of marsupials. Marsupials have live births and carry and nurse their young in pouches. Kangaroos are the largest marsupials on Earth.

Kangaroos are native to Australia, where they outnumber people by a ratio of 2:1. They can easily jump 6 ft high and can hop at speeds of 44mph.

Another fun fact is that kangaroos are overwhelmingly left-handed (95% of them!).
